Bought The Music Room and Don't Look Now, the latter is a highly recommended blind-buy. Was gonna buy The Killers but having just seen both versions recently, I didn't feel like pulling the trigger. Still contemplating Man Who Came in from the Cold and possibly Diabolique. I love Charade and would buy it, but it's on Netflix.

I can understand where you are coming from, but those adjectives certainly do not apply to Amores Perros.

100% serious here... Last night i had a dream that Michael Cera and the musician Beck were the same person. I'm typing on an old iPhone so i cant review photos, but this doesn't seem too far off. Please review and discuss

Yeah, while I was driving these Blu-rays and CDs to my new place, I kept thinking about that scene in The Usual Suspects where the guys steal the loot and then douse the cop vehicle with gasoline.

That's pretty interesting. Sort of like my theory about how the Gollum from the Lord of the Rings movies is really Peter Lorre come back to life.

Oh my God! I had no idea you used those and I started getting the exact same ones when I started running out of shelf space!

How in the heck can a film like 21 Grams be called sappy?

Like it, don't like it. Whatever. But there is no way in hell that it's sappy.

Not only is there a way in hell, but it's one of the most heavy handed and cheesy crapfests I've ever seen. Tries so incredibly hard to pull at our emotions but fails on every account.

I think we may have different definitions of the word "sappy" then.

I don't consider Babel "sappy" either so he's wrong on all counts.. It's probably Iñárritu's weakest movie though

Well then I (sort of) started at the right point. I rented 21 Grams a million years or so ago and remember very little about it but watched Babel a few weeks ago and was very impressed.

Well, maybe not impressed so much as completely drawn in by it.

And it looked freaking fantastic. The Japanese skylines from the apartment were amazing.

And then there's the problem of what to do with the DVDs I still haven't replaced. Like, if I have all my Godard Blus together, then do I add the Godard DVDs I still have, or do I keep them separate in the DVD ghetto?

It's all so damned confusing.
I debate this all the time. I arrange by director, but I break out some genres for no reason whatsoever. Animation is separate. So is sci-fi and documentary. That is, until I get several blu's by the same director in a particular genre, at which point they graduate from genre to director filing. Miyazaki, for example, is under director rather than animation. LOL......freaking idiosyncratic. Worse still, I segregate French films from the larger collection because I have so many and like that cinema so much. I can find any movie I'm looking for, but god help anyone else trying.

I organize all my blu-rays based on color.

Darks go together.

Whites go together.

Blues...reds...and so on and so forth.

Makes my bookshelf look great.

Finished World on a Wire last night.

That Fassbinder man...master with the camera.

Interesting movie that was WAY ahead of its time.

Then I watched Don't Look Now for the very first time.

Liked it...didn't love it.

Could very well be the kind of film that's gets better with repeated viewings.

I have a dream that one day little dark blus will be able to join hands with little white blus as sisters and brothers.

Doing a review of the New Years's Drawing, here's what has come out/been announced so far from it:

Breaker Morant
The Bridge
The Brood
Dressed to Kill
The Fisher King
The Killers
The Master Builder
The Merchant of Four Seasons
Moonrise Kingdom
A Room with A view
The River
The Rose
Silent Ozu: Three Crime Dramas (Eclipse Series)
Two Days, One Night

And here's what's speculated to be left:

Jellyfish Eyes
Inside Llewyn Davis
Lady Snowblood
The New World
The Big Clock
After Hours
Speedy / Harry Lloyd set

Possibly missing one or two. I'm always amazed at how many clues Criterion can get into these drawings.
