For my final blind buy of this sale, it's down to The Double Life of Veronique or the Three Colors trilogy.
What do Kieslowski lovers think is the smartest way to go: 1. Double Life 2. Three Colors 3. Buy Double Life and if I really like it, buy Three Colors. And if I don't like it, pass on Three Colors. For those who've seen both, would it be fair to say that if I like Double Life, then I'll like Three Colors as well? ...or are they significantly different films? |

I can't imagine that you wouldn't like any of them. They are masterful films, provocative, intricate, thoughtful, engaging, and made by a true master of the art form. Plus, how can you go wrong with the likes of Juliette Binoche, Julie Delpy, Irene Jacob? Oh, and you really liked Hiroshima mon amour, and Emmanuelle Riva is in Blue. ![]() So, really, you can't possibly go wrong no matter what you choose. I know. Lots of help, eh? ![]() |

My avatar features my favorite actress, Gene Tierney, in a key scene from her Oscar-nominated performance in Leave Her to Heaven (1945). It's quite a film; among its champions are director Martin Scorsese and TCM host Robert Osborne (who also considers Miss Tierney to be his favorite female star.) Thanks for asking! |

Isn't that a fantastic film? I first saw it on the big screen, and it haunted me for days afterwards. I was rooting for it to win both of the Oscars it was nominated for ... Best Cinematography (in stunning black and white by Christian Berger) and Best Foreign Language Film of 2010. It definitely deserves to be in the Criterion Collection, IMHO.

Just bought The Complete Jacques Tati, The Essential Jacques Demy & Three Colors Trilogy for well under $150. Used the 20% coupon on each individual set, worked like a charm. Tati & Demy are both blind buys.

Thanks for the heads up! I bought Melville's Le Silence de la Mer for $16.45 as a blind buy. I love Léon Morin, Priest and the review of Le Silence de la Mer inspired me.

Debating trying out one of the Eclipse sets with the new 20% off coupon. Could use some help.
Was debating getting a Kurosawa set...but there's 2... Really enjoy Gilliam, Kurosawa, Bergman, Del Toro, anything Shakespeare, and I Loved 12 Angry Men (recent blind buy)... Just got into Criterion, could use some help...or I'm just going to end up getting the BBS set... |
