As for giving more information, I think they normally would at the Wexner talk, but that's not happening. They tend to pick their spots when they communicate about upcoming titles and that hasn't happened in awhile.

I think there is a strong chance of them getting all that you mentioned and plenty more but it will take time for them to develop the releases. We could have a dozen Warner titles in a couple years, but they'll probably come out in a slow trickle.
Well, I've listened to it while hoping specifically to hear anything about Warner, which you mentioned. But I didn't hear anything.

I don't know what makes you assume that they got Warner. It is well known that Badlands is a special one of a kind case, where Warner were forced to license it out from direct involvement of the director. Twilight Time's release of Heaven and Earth happened due to similar circumstances. Those are the only two cases I know of Warner licensing out their films. I'm not sure about this one, which is also a Warner movie:

In any case, instances of Warner movies being released by a studio that isn't Warner/Archive can be counted on your fingers. I hope that I'm wrong and that Criterion and Warner will have a partnership.

They do have a partnership in the works. That has been announced at last year's Wexner talk (I believe). We just don't know what future titles are coming. You'll find some discussion of it here:

http://www.criterionforum.org/forum/...pic.php?t=9359

We've talked about it before this podcast. Day for Night was the first release as part of the agreement.

Il Sorpasso

An examination of alpha (Bruno) and beta (Robe') males. Bruno is self assured, does what he wants, talks to women without fear and laughs at possible rejection. Robe' pins himself in with self doubt and uses school as a mean to excuse himself from taking chances.

Bruno's wife said it best: He (Bruno) is a winner. He just is.

Did anyone else read the film this way?

I appreciate some of Del Toro's films, but definitely appreciate his passion for movies as a whole. I hate he wasn't able to get his H.P Lovecraft film off the ground due to the studios demanding a PG rating.

I'm glad I didn't blind buy it.

It's goofy and crazy and weird and I'm sure I would've loved it 10-15 years ago back when I was under the daily influence of certain "herbal" substances, but these days it's not a movie I think I'd be compelled to watch more than once or twice.

I can definitely see why other people love it.

It has all the elements of a cult classic.

...I know that I'm in love with the Kung Fu girl.

You just need to link the account to get it (in case you already have a criterion.com account), not sure if you can unlink it later though.

Edit: you can unlink later.

Nice change of pace to see "I wouldn't do it if you paid me" be invoked literally. Ages ago they did something similar for MyCriterion members.

I think it's accurate. I think there are other thematic elements at work in this film as well, but I don't disagree with your core reading of the main characters.

Do you disagree with it?

It was on Saint Valentine's flash sale in 2012, they did the sale and at the same time gave $10 to each account.

You all should probably go to their Facebook page and complain there JK

Well the $10 is in celebration of the Criterion Facebook page hitting 300,000 likes so it makes sense that it's for people who like them on facebook

Not at all. It's a great film. I'm reading up on Red Pill so it was very stimulating.
