If they get a PTA, it could very well be Punch Drunk Love. It doesn't have blu ray release and Criterion seem to have a very good relationship with Sony. I just can't believe that an Adam Sandler could have a Criterion release.

I'm not saying these are bad movies, far from it, they're just not quite up there with La Notte, in my opinion.
Have you seen all Antonioni?
I wanted to ask if you have seen Il Grido.
I haven't seen it but I LOVE Steve Cochran!

I have seen only 2 Antonioni films, L'Avventura and The Passenger and I liked the later much more.
From the first, i liked more the first part.

I watched Hard Eight a month or so ago for the first time in years, and it didn't hold up as well as I had remembered. I was a bit surprised.

Way to go, iScottie!!

As for The Devils, Polaroid is correct. They only allowed BFI to release a DVD version of the film and apparently it is in the never-to-be-released vault. Someone at WB is probably worried about the potential controversy about it. Personally I think that's not justified. Hopefully something will change, but I doubt any US label would be able to release it.

For what it's worth, the BFI DVD is supposedly fantastic with plenty of supplements.

I agree, but mostly because I knew where it was going and knowing the big "reveal" colors your interpretation of the characters and their motives from the beginning. Still, I think it's an interesting bit of story-telling, with a great performance by Philip Baker Hall. His performance makes you forgive Hard Eight's shakier plot devices. The rest of the cast, with the exception of Gwyneth Paltrow who was miscast in a difficult role, is excellent as well.

I too would love to see either Hard Eight or Punch Drunk Love announced today. Guess we'll find out soon enough!
