The movie was surprisingly light even though it dealt with dark subjects. No thanks, though.

It's a solid film. I particularly liked the general theme of the film, but I don't have any interest in rewatching it.

I personally loved this movie. I had no idea what to expect, but its a really engaging film with great editing and story. I think its aged pretty well for its time, and some of the choreography of the dance scenes are pretty impressive. If you liked Pina and the dance choreography, you'll love All That Jazz too. It's easily re-watchable in unlimited fashion.

The Tin Drum
The Sword of Doom
The Vanishing gets my vote too...one of my favorite criterion...

Picked up 5 more yesterday & today morning

Fanny & Alexander
Earrings of madam de...
Gates of Heaven/Vernon, FL
El Norte
John Cassavetes: Five Films

I will go out to get Apu Trilogy now (wanted to save the best towards the last, final store haul)...and probably one of the following

Code Unknown (blind)
Seconds (blind)
The Killers
Ikiru
Rosetta (blind)
Rules of the game (blind)

Which one should I get from the list above?

I will follow up with couple of online orders tomorrow (Yi Yi is not available in the stores I normally go to, so may be that one will be part of my online order)

Finally Ikiru was in stock again and I got it! Now, I can buy one more and I'm debating between A Room with a View and Moonrise Kingdom. I've seen both and I like both but which one would you choose?

I tell you guys what, this has been a fairly weak year for films. Just saw Spotlight and well the movie was good with an emotional impact, it's really nothing we haven't watched before and the previews for Carol and The Danish Girl looked like old school SNL parodies with all the Oscar bait acting going on.

Well, I haven't watched Room or the Revenant yet, so hopefully those will redeem 2015.

Any word on a Blu-ray release of Stray Dog or should I bite the bullet and order the DVD?

I agree. I've yet to see a 2015 film that hit me hard.

I bought Ikiru for $13 and change today, thanks to the sale and to the 30% off coupon.

That's winning. Just like Charlie Sheen.

You might want to google Charlie Sheen before using any of that material again.

Oh, I know. It was a joking comment. He's not exactly winning these days.

Seriously..?

Love, The Lobster, Macbeth.. and as you stated we have The Revenant to come, The Room looks interesting but I'm not rally sold yet. I have yet to see Carol.

I am also excited to see I Smile Back with Sarah Silverman and Nasty Baby, we also have The Witch to look forward to, but I'm a bit lost on when its release date is haha, same goes for Knight of Cups. Also got 45 Years and Tangerine to try and see.

(didn't realise how behind I was on watching 2015 films till I made this list lol.)

However, we have had A LOT of disappointments, Crimson Peak, The Martian, Spectre, Jupiter Ascending etc etc lol

Half of the movies you mentioned I haven't even heard of so who knows if I'll get them in my area and I'm sorry, but I honestly can't get excited about the most overrated Shakespeare play, Macbeth.

Hello everyone,

Not sure where else to post this, but hopefully this might be the best place to do it.

Criterion. Everyone loves them. They release a ton of great films, but not exactly at the quickest pace. About 6 years ago, I discovered that Criterion had the rights to Hunter in the Dark. One of the greatest films I have ever seen staring Tatsuya Nakadai and Sonny Chiba in his best performance.

Soon after that I discovered that Criterion has the rights to Bandits Vs Samurai Squadron, Death Shadows, Heat Wave, Tracked, and The Oil Hell Murders. While it's great that these are on Hulu, these films deserve the proper physical releases.

For YEARS I've tried communicating with Criterion to no avail. Not sure if they don't see these films as money makers or what, but they are more amazing that you can imagine. At the rate things are going, I'll die, or the physical format will die before Criterion will release these films.

I'm in a desperate situation and would like any help I can get. These are the two e-mails I can find that might actually work. mulvaney@criterion.com and/or suggestions@criterion.com

Look up these movies and see for yourself why they deserve to be released. Hunter in the Dark is without a doubt a film making achievement and I would love to hear what Tatsuya Nakadai has to say about them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Via e-mailing Criterion or other suggestions at reaching out to Criterion. I hope someone can help and hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

I just died a little inside.

I mean, let's forget for a second which play it is, and how we feel about that particular play. I'd go pay $25 for an IMAX presentation of a remake of Showgirls, if it meant that Fassbender and Cotillard were involved!
