I do wish Criterion released their bigger sets in the same style as MoC and Arrow though - now those things are near indestructible and so god damn good looking!

At least the booklet is included instead of a dorm room poster.
I sent in a suggestion to Julia in the orders department at Criterion, asking if it were possible to make booklets available as an "upgrade" to a given release. Customers would need to understand that it might take a while before they became available, as they'd need to submit an order to the printer when sufficient demand became evident. But I'd happily pay a few bucks extra to get a booklet over a pamphlet.

It's probably not feasible, but it's worth asking, as I know I'm not the only one who misses the booklets.

It'd be cool if Criterion did a yearbook every year with the booklet contents for that year's releases, or perhaps even quarterly ones since the content for a year might be massive.

That would be AMAZING.

While we wait for announcement check out this new ad from Nicholas Winding Refn (scored by Cliff Martinez)!

Criterion really need to get into TV, Adverts, Music video set - some incredible pieces of film out there!

I don't know but story just looks a bit out there and silly? I may be completely wrong but I don't care about watching a bunch of girls wearing pretty much nothing, getting drunk - committing crimes and being silly lol.

Re reading all that I know it sounds very stupid and dumb for me say - I am just not convinced and yes, I am unfairly not giving this film a chance yet!

The film marketing is pretty bad tbh, and maybe they have tried targeting the wrong audience... hence bad reviews.

On some level I know I probably wont be disappointed and stuff but I put walls up with some films out of fear they may be awful lol

Another thing is the entire concept of 'Spring Break' to me is ridiculous - maybe cause I am British and we don't really have it so I cant relate to it - but I can't imagine 'Spring Breaks' to be real or how they portray them in films etc when you see teenagers partying and getting drunk in UK its pretty lame and disappointing haha. Nothing like how the American parties are portrayed.
I've seen it and your suspicions about what the film will be like is my reality, if you will. It is an absurd, pretentious, stupid movie. The first half is like a glitzy extended episode of MTV's old show The Grind. The latter part tries to say something about the party culture... What it's trying to say given the plot developments is beyond me.

Just finished watching it!

Ok the cinematography is stunning and it blew me away! James Franco was transformed in it too! The girls weren't as annoying bad as I was expecting but maybe because they didn't actually talk much haha! I wasn't a fan of the soundtrack though but I guess thats what people listen to at parties..? Would have preferred a soundtrack with stuff used in films like Drive, Irreversible etc :P

I think the ending was a tad silly and the girls action weren't very believable but it wasn't a wasted viewing - the look of the film was worth the viewing and so was James Franco's acting!

It did feel very shallow though and put me off the people represented in the film even more lol (whats fun and exciting about flashing your boobs and getting high as a kite and sleeping with whoever/whenever?). But I guess that happens - just hard to relate to the film I suppose, but that is solely because we don't get this party culture here in UK... even the clubs an nights out are pretty tacky and cheap.

I probably would buy this film on bluray but only because of the stuff I said above, the look of the film and James Franco... I just think it went a bit over the top at times lol and not in a good way :P

It's there in my vudu account for couple of years, thought I will prioritize it and watch it sometime...

I've seen worse film and the complaints in reviews I have read were quite silly tbh - I guess because of marketing it was aimed at a larger audience so they were expecting non stop sex drugs and alcohol with fast cars and naked James Franco? lol

But seriously the film looked so beautiful, great work on the imagery (and no not referring to the naked girls lol) just the use of colour, framing etc - some parts reminded me of the look of Lynne Ramsays films!

I concur!
It would be amazing if it could release some TV series and music video clips/concerts that I'm after.

The Disaster Artist seems destined to get a Criterion release.

Do Criterion cover artists ever leak their work before an announcement?

This is the closest I've seen.

Film was released in April. I don't remember if Criterion announced the April films on 1/13 that month...

I'm down here in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Spring Break hit like thunder on Sunday: three dead of alcohol poisoning and recklessness already. I inadvertently arrived in the midst of it, just like I did in Panama City, FLA six years ago (will I ever learn?). I can tell you that that movie happens every year. It was a brilliant flick, make no bones about it. That s**t happens. The story might have been meh to some, but Korine knew what he was doing. And those ATL Twins: too much! Drop on down and see for yourself. Maybe not in the UK, but IT sure as hell goes down in the USA. Every damn year. Ya gotta see it to believe it. Got about two weeks of full throttle SB left. Forget the movies, come down and live it.

Interesting. She posted a photo on Instagram 6 weeks ago saying she received her flash sale and an assignment. Hmm...

It says "Stills" on the disk. Clearly a Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young release is coming.

Jokes aside, I wonder if this means The Thief of Bagdad or Heaven Can Wait is getting an upgrade? (She did the cover art for the DVD releases).

Doubt it - they have all the illustrations from her already so nothing new would be really needed.

Eric Skillman would be the only one that would need to edit the design to make it fit for bluray sizes as he is the designer, Caitlin is just the illustrator for the cover design - so would probably be a new design.

Do they often have the DVD artists design the Blu-ray artwork, as well?

Most the time they usually keep the artwork if its good enough, sometime they tweak the design but I doubt they get illustrator to do that.

Like with some Wes Anderson some elements are removed such as Life Aquatic, but that si a quick photoshop job rather than hire original designer to redraw :P

Fox recently restored Heaven Can Wait so it could be that.
