Nice bait you are using, fishing for a response? 😛

That does bring up an interesting thing I just saw: why the 25th for the UK and not the same date as their usual?

Mulvaney would never get out of the office by 7 pm if they did US/UK on the same day.

I was wondering:
those that are Europe based (like me) will prefer now the UK editions in comparison to their US counterparts?
I won't, due to the rating logo on the cover.
Unless, the UK editions feature better encoding in editions that I think there was room for improvement. (eg. My Own Private Idaho)
(although I believe they will be the exact same. You don't need to reencode to put another region lock, right?)

Oh please. Let's not look for silly reasons to try and justify a false argument.

Great film! Thelma Ritter, who I wasn't even aware was in this film, really steals the show as the police informer - Heart breaking and entirely believable ...and I liked Widmark playing the "cannon" much more than I liked him in Night and the City as a low-life loser.

This was only my second Sam Fuller film (the other was House of Bamboo) and I really like his pulpy style. Will check out his CC Blu titles soon.
I have only seen a few that are out in blu-ray but I think you should check out White Dog, The Naked Kiss and Forty Guns, all pretty different movies, but great in their own way, the only ones I would say have the same style are Shock Corridor and The Naked Kiss.

Ah yes, the barely noticeable rating logo that isn't really an issue and knocks around £10 off the imported price and removes the hassle of import duty and waiting a couple of weeks. Of course.

I've always been thankful that I'm not the type (for whatever reason) that notices/cares about those rating logos. That would be irritating if I had to think about them or consider them when making purchases.

I added Bicycle Thieves to get in on the free shipping, since I'm not in a huge hurry to receive it.
I picked up In a Lonely Place from library yesterday along with its 2015 sequel Dark Places...
[Show spoiler]jk not really a sequel...

Also picked up Red Desert & Judgement at Nuremberg. Should be an exciting week...

Not sure how I'm going to cope - especially with Arrow and Moc announcements

Seriously though if I'm that annoying on announcements I do apologize.. I get excited and happy and don't intend to be a pain or annoy everyone and if it is that bad I can try not post at all on announcement days - I just work 9 day weeks 12 hour shifts so get exhausted and never enjoy myself, and announcements only really thing I look forward to st the moment violins needed. Lol.

Guys, "Big Bosoms and Square Jaws" is the title of the biography for Russ Meyer

So this isn't for a John Waters film, but an interview with Waters that will be included on Criterion's release of Beyond the Valley of the Dolls

Ehmm. well.. Whether I buy the UK or the US one they are BOTH import for me who I live in Greece.
And also the price is the same. Actually, if there is no sale in the UK releases, it's cheaper for me to buy the US releases in the B&N sales.

I thought that it was the same for other people, but I guess other Europeans pay huge amount of import taxes? I didn't know..
I've never paid anything on Bluray purchases.

The UK releases may not be identical anyway. Someone just mentioned that the UK release of Macbeth is missing subtitles. If true, it's possible this may be an issue with some of the other releases too.

Oh well, looks like any John Waters on Criterion will have to wait.

Really? the English subtitles?
I would assume it's an error or something if it's true.

Continued my exposure to William Burroughs last night. I watched Burroughs a couple of weeks ago and started Naked Lunch last night.

Glad I got hooked on sunflower seeds in my younger years rather than heroin (or bug dust). Wow.

I never read the book and wasn't a big fan of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas so this isn't really in my wheelhouse. But I am liking the mood Cronenberg creates in the film and it seems to jive with Burroughs' whole persona. It doesn't have the B-movie feel like Scanners or Videodrome. The Brood is still my favorite of his that I have seen although this has a chance to top the list.

I look forward to finishing tonight...after the kids go to bed.

2-3 days ago I watched my first Waters film: Cry baby.
Well.. it ...was... good... That's all. Certainly fitting for spring viewing.
I would like to watch Hairspray too, but I'm not sure about the weirder stuff..
