My all-time #12 movie. Hope you enjoy it...but not enough that you model your parenting skills after characters in the movie.

Happy birthday to you! If the announcements are delayed until Monday the 18th, then they'll arrive on my birthday, which is almost never a possibility. But let's hope they come today so we can all relax and enjoy the weekend!

I'm a big fan of "Year of the Dragon". I actually think Cimino's "Desperate Hours" is a good film as well, even though it took a savage beating from critics.

It looks like Criterion have dropped hints about the October lineup on their Instagram and Twitter accounts. Here are my predictions:

El verdugo
Boyhood
An Almodovar title
Pan's Labyrinth
His Girl Friday

Anyone know why The Curious Case of Benjamin Button comes in the standard bluray case?

It's just a regular BD release. Paramount merely paid for the Criterion branding

If they announce His Girl Friday, October will be one of the best months ever.

Repertory calendar for a theater new me lists a 4K restoration of TAMPOPO in October, released by Janus Films. So a Criterion should be forthcoming.

That Bicycle Thieves/Pee Wee's Big Adventure screening is particularly inspired.

Default Any more Warner titles upcoming?

Now that Criterion is releasing Warner Brothers titles how about Monte Hellman's CHINA 9 LIBERTY 37? Criterion has done Monte Hellman right and his China 9 deserves the Criterion treatment. Last I saw China 9 was owned by Warner. Highly unlikely Warner would do a 2K or 4K restoration on a Hellman film, we fans feel this is his best work (referring to the uncut version and not the 92 minute version) since Two Lane Blacktop.
Would love to see more Monte Hellman from Criterion and this would be a good one to add to the catalog.

That made me chuckle.

Here's the full list for anyone wondering:

August 19th - September 13th

Vertigo / Rear Window
Contempt / Breathless
Paths of Glory / The Killing
Sunrise / Nosferatu
Yojimbo / Django
In a Lonely Place / The Big Heat
Harold and Maude / Where's Poppa?
Psycho / Repulsion
The Third Man / The Lady from Shanghai
Singin' in the Rain / The Bandwagon
The Bicycle Thief / Pee Wee's Big Advenure
The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie / The Obscure Object of Desire
Stray Dog / Drunken Angel
M*A*S*H / McCabe and Mrs. Miller
Ed Wood / Plan 9 from Outer Space
Badlands / Days of Heaven
City Lights / Modern Times
On the Waterfront / The Wild One
Hiroshima Mon Amour / Last Year at Marienbad
The Big Sleep / The Long Goodbye
The Maltese Falcon / The Thin Man
Notorious / His Girl Friday
Dial M for Murder 3D / House of Wax 3D
Laura / Leave Her to Heaven
The Umbrellas of Cherbourg / The Young Girls of Rochefort
Double Indemnity / Mildred Pierce

I want to go to a ridiculous amount of these, it's not even funny

Are you making fun of how every positive review of it had to bring that up immediately and consistently use it as a reason we should worship it, or do you actually think we don't know it? :P

That movie had some very good bits, but I think it's VERY weak in comparison to some of his other films, ex the Before trilogy.

Pan's Labyrinth is for sure happening. Guillermo del Toro confirmed it himself.
