You know, I don't think I really "told" people how to "watch" movies. I specifically mentioned that I merely found it fascinating behaviour and that for me, I could not personally do that and found it puzzling, but not in a "I'm right and you're wrong" way and more in a "you like veggie burgers and I don't" way. Stating a personal stance on anything is not "telling" people that they should do what I do. Although I certainly don't blame you for thinking that was my intention, considering how common a stance that seems to be.

I also find this an odd thing to take *personal* offense about. There are certainly hundreds of posters in here that have various views and philosophies about film that run counter to my own. Hell, some people in here had actually attempted to directly insult me back for my original post, which was actually more "weird" than insulting. And you know, it didn't really bother me that many people found it weird or even stupid. I found those reactions more interesting than insulting, to be honest.

I just read your earlier post and I didn't take it as an insult to anyone. In fact, I get what you're saying but I think people took it the wrong way. There is absolutely nothing wrong with deciding to watch a certain group of movies such as the AFI 100, if that is what you are genuinely interested in doing. However, sometimes people can get caught in the trap of watching movies as part of "the mission" rather than just watching for the pleasure of watching them. I've done that myself in the past where I've decided ahead of time to watch a certain group of movies then ended up getting kind of resentful of the movie I'm watching because I've forced myself to watch it even though I'm not really in the mood to watch it, but I HAVE TO because it's the next film in the list. That ends up not being a great way to truly explore and enjoy the act of watching a film. Not everyone approaches things like that, but some do and that's what I took as your intent in your original post on the subject.

Don't expect the same format as the previous releases. The first release was very pricey, and the second was a smaller format cut price version. This looks to be a tiny version (check the dimensions) and in portrait layout, not landscape, which would be a huge shame because a significant part of the book is full page stills from the movies. Taschen have a habit of releasing cheaper versions which wreck the reading experience (having their budget versions of their Napoleon and 2001 books I can say they're readable but far from ideal) so for this one I'd look for a cheap version of the 2nd release, I got mine for about £25.

Thanks for pointing out the dimensions. I didn't realize it was so small. I've canceled my order.

I'm aware of the size difference, I posted pics in the Kubrick thread. I don't see myself having any problems reading it, but I can always return if I do..

Did anybody else here find the artwork for the Ingrid Bergman doc bluray atrocious? The bold all caps font is plastered on just about every square inch of it--fold out poster insert included.

It has to be one of the laziest they've done in a while

I know that somewhere in all these pages it talks about getting replacement
art work ( I found the French Lieutenant's Woman at a pawn shop for $2.50
that does not have the art work)
So what is my best way to get it, Thanks for any help
P.S. I only need the outside art work

Such a great film!!! I haven't gotten around to seeing the lions gate bluray, though...maybe I'm scared the disc is screwed up like their release of Basic Instinct (to name one of the many).

Speaking of which: Now that's a Criterion release id absolutely kill for. Well, pretty much anything Vergoeven did from Turkish Delight to Black Book.

Is this a Lionsgate blu-ray? I cannot watch a Lionsgate blu-ray, alright, so we got a little situation here. I can't watch these kinda blu-rays! What the hell is goin' on! You think that's funny? Would you like to know, smart guy? Would you like to know why I can't watch this kinda blu-ray? I'll tell you why, I'm used to *luxury* blu-rays. Have you ever heard of a luxury blu-ray? You know what luxury means? Ever heard of Criterion, Criterion Collection? That's what I watch.

Will you just cut the bull**** and get serious.

I'm asking you to post here and make me look good. Alright? And if you make a fool out of me, I swear to God, I'll kill you right here. Boom! Right in front of iscottie and Great Owl. And I'll tell you something else, you make me look bad... I will never ever talk to you again, ever. But if you do a good job, well, then you can be my best friend. My best friend that I've ever had.

...you hear me?

My hundredth Criterion title.

Another blind-buy (like many of them). Really enjoy this hobby.

One of my favorite indie films of the last 20 years.

I actually went out and bought the Japanese blu-ray of this film and the video/audio is impeccable. The bit-rate is nearly 40 Mbps on this one folks. It's superior to the Lionsgate blu-ray for sure.

Here's the release I own:

DVDBeaver states the Lionsgate transfer looks as flawless in motion. They also say the audio is superior for the LG release, plus English subs. For the price difference ($10 vs $30 at the lowest), I'd say the Lionsgate one should satisfy most.

Underrated film imo.

Great performance by Chloe Sevigny.

Vincent Gallo really challenged her as a actress.

She could've blown her entire career on one job.

But she swallowed her pride and went for it.

...I was impressed.

I don't know if you or anyone else here saw The Brown Bunny in a movie theater like I did, but... I did.

And wheww, whatever you do, don't ever take one of your parents to see this film in a theater with you... (which I didn't, but I'm sure it may have happened somewhere on the planet).
