Janus is remastering Tampopo. Criterion seems inevitable.

Was only going to get 3, so I could qualify for free shipping, but, I couldn't decide on just 3. So, I went with 4...

The New World (Malick on Blu collection complete!!)
Nashville (bummed the dual format package isn't available but I'll live)
Clouds of Sils Maria (been dying to see this for a long time)
McCabe and Mrs Miller (Just perfection)

Went ahead and picked up the Zatoichi set, Lady Snowblood and Trilogía de Guillermo del Toro for myself and Eraserhead, Mulholland Dr. and Brazil as gifts. Wow, that was expensive.

They have free shipping in the US? Nice. Unfortunately, no such luck for Canada. Made my first Criterion purchase:

Pan's Labyrinth
The Devil's Backbone
The Game

I can't leave. I think that's how all of us would feel if we were in that closet.

Yes, free shipping if you purchase more than $50 worth of merchandise! Not sure if you have to have a user account on Criterion.com though.

Chaplin fans: Which of Chaplin's films (via Criterion) would you recommend to a Chaplin newbie?

I've been meaning to dig into the Chaplin films, but don't really know where to start.

Any of the silent films of his that they have, really.
You cant go wrong with any of those, but my personal favourite is The Gold Rush.

Modern Times or The Gold Rush would be my ideal starting point.

I think The Kid is the one with the most heart and empathy, so I rated that the highest and it's the one I call a must-see.

However, you can't go wrong with Modern Times, The Great Dictator, The Gold Rush, or City Lights, they're all decent.

Only one title from Criterion's flash sale, The Uninvited. Hopefully it arrives before Halloween.
I'll wait for the B&N sale next month to grab a few more.

IMO, you can't go wrong no matter what you choose when it comes to Chaplin's films from Criterion.

One that has not been mentioned that I highly recommend: Monsieur Verdoux (1947). My personal fave Chaplin.

For his silent films, my personal fave is The Kid (1921).
