AaronJ: Never; but I have heard some people report similar things. Maybe you need to do a live chat with them?

(Perhaps they are moving all their books into a fire proof bunker... just in case).

Most B&N orders I've done have been split. One year, out of about twenty titles I had something like seventeen packages

That was fine when $20 was less than £15...

Edit: This year, six titles, three packages.

I don't get why they do it though lol, the second lot are both coming from ascendia which is great if I don't get customs but annoyed a little as I paid for the faster delivery option lol..

It's a total mystery, since they all come from the same place (unlike, say, CeX, where you can understand why things usually come separately). For me, so far, I have not had any customs issues with Ascendia.

Is it today your lot is arriving?

The first batch is here today.. was meant to be Monday but when I spoke to UPS they said it was dispatched when it should have been -____-.

Hope it coe sin good condition.. cant be bothered with seeing back and waiting again, plus the $5 replacement isn't as worth it now the pound has dropped.. still a great price but I liked it when it only cost a couple quid lol

Slacker is cool. It's not the easiest movie to make it through, but it's interesting, and a great time capsule with some memorable scenes.

The supplements on the disc are actually really cool. It even includes his very first movie, which I like a lot. The set itself is nice too.

I agree - I've been working my way through the set over the last several months. I just finished all of the Maestro films. They were so inspiring and full of warmth; the whole set is joyous

Speaking of, I renewed my B&N membership a few days ago, so I'm good to go for another year.

I have not participated in the current sale so far, but I'm eagerly awaiting One-Eyed Jacks in a couple of weeks. When I visit the store for that title, I'll probably grab Night Train to Munich and McCabe & Mrs. Miller while I'm there.

I haven't put in my B&N order yet either. I might as well wait 'til One-Eyed Jacks comes out as I'll probably be picking up 4 or 5 and I've got a $100 gift card to use.

I haven't seen the film, but I'm a big fan of Marlon Brando, so I'll have to check it out.

Thanks for the depression recommendations fellas. I'll pass on the weed though. I'm enough of a downer when high.

Question: Is The Candidate officially a relic from a more innocent time?

I actually watched The Candidate the other night. I'd recently watched Downhill Racer and enjoyed it, and The Candidate looked interesting so I decided to watch it too. It's from a different time, kind of, but it's relevant. "Relic" seems a bit pejorative. It was a decent movie, slow though.

Need everyone's help, what Criterion title should I get next at my local B&N, Repo Man or Slacker?

They're both amazing films, but I'm going to give the edge to Repo Man. That movie takes everything great about 1980s music, 1980s culture, and 1980s cinematography, and rolls it all into one big ball of awesome.

"Put it on a plate, son. You'll enjoy it more."
"Couldn't enjoy it any more, Mom. Mm, mm, mmm."

Good Lord, that scene cracks me up every time.

REPO MAN is, by far, the better film.
