Thanks Scottie! I'm so tempted to cave in and watch it there despite having the bluray on preorder (nabbed it for a cool $18).

Hearing Keith Uhlich on the Cinephiliacs talk about it made it seem like a potentially polarizing piece of work. I don't always agree with him, but the subject matter has to warrant strong opinions.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the 90 minute cut getting a theatrical US release later this year too?
The press release I saw only mentioned the longer cut would be distributed internationally. The IMAX version never made its way close to me.

Haha, I plan on it. It helps that over half of them were gifts. For some reason my brother and parents exclusively give me Criterions for birthday/christmas.

Any of you recommend Burroughs: The Movie? I'm not sure this is the one I went looking for, I remember a different cover. Have CC put out another documentary on Burroughs?

It probably didn't help that he was credited as Casey Adams in Niagara.

Holy shit guys. Just got back from seeing Silence. Wow what an incredible moving powerful film. Scorsese has outdone himself with this one. Feels like it was made for the Criterion collection and I will be so pissed if this doesn't get added in the years to come. A must see in theaters.

I've been good and kept up with my New Year's resolutions so far, I deserve Hedwig and the Angry Inch to be announced this month.

Glad to hear you liked it. I'm psyched to see this..hopefully this upcoming weekend or next week on Monday's bargain night (at one of my local theaters).

When you cross (no pun intended) Scorsese with religion, you have absolutely high art.

Default Filmstruck

So I just decided to give Filmstruck a try, since I heard it was possible to use the android phone app on Android TV which is what I currently use (Shield TV specifically).

I must say I am pretty impressed, the interface is beautiful, even better than Netflix I think, and everything is pretty functional too, amazing considering it is a new streaming service.

The streaming quality is just ok though, the compression seems to have problems with heavy grain, but overall it is on par or perhaps a bit better than Hulu.

Also have to confess I am a bit overwhelmed looking at all the content, there are many films I have seen there but they have tons of supplements I never saw, also it appears after a few tests that there are a few films that never were in HD on Hulu with HD transfers on Filmstruck (Shoot the Piano Player, The Virgin Spring), need to keep looking.

Anyway if anyone is interested in giving it a try on and Android TV device let me know for the instructions.

Maybe we'll get lucky and get the titles early this month.

I don't expect announcements until the 18th.

I'm sure Mulvaney is swamped this morning

Speaking of Silence, FilmStruck has Masahiro Shinoda's adaptation on FilmStruck.

Hopefully Criterion can release his religious trilogy together in a nice box set sooner than later.

I am still trying to figure out about Silence. It is the only masterpiece from cinema last year. Only Ordet and Balthazar can touch its greatness.

CAN ANYONE HELP ME?

MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE.

lets say you own the arrow release. let's say you love the booklet and hearing william frieken talk about this film. let's say you love love love this movie. let's say you have the chance to buy the criterion version for a cheaper than usual price (15). let's say you really enjoy hearing errol morris talk and find angela lansbury devine.

but let's say you are trying to scale back your criterions. but let's also say you have OCD about these things.

WHAT SHOULD I DO??

Found some phantom pages. Not sure if they're new or not, or mean anything whatsoever.
