Just watched John Hurt yesterday in Jackie. He looked old & frail in it.

Noooo! She's was heartbreaking to watch in Amour... she deserved the awards that year. Stupid academy.

Certainly more so than Lawrence in Silver Linings, but that year I was rooting for Chastain.

I know John Hurt was in "The Hit", but is he represented in any other films in the Criterion Collection? He was just so consistently good. Watched him in Owning Mahowny again the other night, his performance was just effortless. RIP

He's in one of my favorite films from the Collection, Heaven's Gate.

He voices a character in Watership Down. He's in Heaven's Gate too.

Thanks guys. I had no idea he was in those as well. Nice, I own all 3 then - now I just need to set aside 216 "do not disturb" minutes to watch Heaven's Gate. Maybe tonight

In my opinion, the best part of Heaven's Gate is the opening 15-20 minute graduation scene, in which Hurt gives a cocky, smug valedictory speech in the ornate language of the time. The whole graduation sequence is beautifully photographed and Hurt makes a good impression - too bad he sort of fades into the background for the rest of the movie.

He fades into the background but, IMO, he's still an essential part of the narrative. There's a poignancy to his character that is unforgettable.

Probably the nicest looking coverart from TT.

... and wow look at those special features... it's filled to the brim. #sold

The movie itself is pretty great so if anyone's iffy, I'd say... don't be! #1984rox

I just put in Sansho The Baliff and at 0:00:26 during the Daiei logo the are three small, evenly spaced white pixel lines that pop up on the right black bar for what appears to be just one frame.

I've never seen this before on any Blu Ray or DVD.

Does this appear on every copy or is there something wrong with my disc?

If anyone else has this Blu Ray your input would be greatly appreciated.
