This was me too.

So I was wondering what's up with Le Samourai release, it says:

Quote:
New high-definition digital restoration
I mean it's odd that being new it is not at least a 2K since I doubt anything lower is done these days, the release of The Earrings of Madame de... says something similar:

Quote:
New, restored high-definition digital film transfer
So here's hoping they are not referring to the problematic restoration, but I guess if there was another one we would know about it, unless they are doing a restoration based on the dvd master.

Oh well as long as it looks better than previous releases it will be mine

Am I the only one genuinely looking forward to the release of Desert Hearts? I haven't seen the movie before, but it looks great.

No they'll be no gifs from me bro.

I think it kind of bothers some people.

This a time for unity and healing.

When you saw only one set of footprints...it was Le Samourai on blu-ray.

I'm excited for The Philadelphia Story being added to the collection. It's been on my list for quite some time.
It's very close to my Birthday, so we'll consider this one a gift. Now if Criterion releases Roman Holiday as a December title, then I'll be all set for Christmas.

I agree, but even the DVD is out of print and going for crazy prices. So it's great news that it's coming back into print at all. Though of course it's always better for it to be a true 2K or 4K scan. I know it's dorky, but I greatly prefer when they have the specific details for the restoration (when it was done, what resolution it was scanned at, what type of machine was used, etc). When it's a new 2K or 4K scan the results please me like 95% of the time. When it's a DVD master, it's probably not even 50/50.

Someone can correct me if I'm mistaken, but wasn't this another one of the Studio Canal films that was deleted when Criterion lost a bunch of rights simultaneously? I know Playtime was another one, but that box-set was apparently driven by the Tati estate? Hopefully this is a sign Criterion will start getting more of these individual titles back (and take advantage of the new restorations on some of them).

Probably the same one that's been on Itunes/VUDU/Filmstruck for the past year.

When during the month does the November BN sale usually start?

That's insane.

I actually had no idea the dvd had gone out of print.

I would love to sell my copy on Ebay.

...but my only experience there was a nightmare.
