Are you implying "Phantoms" with Ben Affleck is coming to Criterion? Huge news.

Yup, Criterion are always timely with their releases, and what better time to release a Miramax title starring Rose Mcgowan.

Just pulled the trigger @ Walmart for the two titles...Amazon didn't have them available, and I'm not waiting!

Does anyone know if L'eclisse is OOP? It's 395 on amazon and Barnes and noble doesn't have it half off and it's OOS.

I think it's just out of stock.

Criterion would have sent out a notice if it was going out of print. Furthermore, the website would have it listed as "OUT OF PRINT", which it does not.

You currently can't buy it from CC. However this message pops up from them:

Unfortunately, we are not able to offer this product for sale on Criterion.com. Please note that it is not out of print and is available at other retailers, like Amazon.com.

If CC hasn't lost the rights to it my best guess is a single blu-ray release is on the horizon instead of the dual format package.

I've literally held out all these years on this specific title because I knew this was shoe-in. Eventually.

Try watching any episode of Twin Peaks while on psilocybin though. Now that's a trip (not that I've done that).

Also, I have yet to see a film that tries to emulate what its like being on psychedelics, however, Terry Gilliam did one fine job with Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas I must confess.
I remember going to see Apocalypse Now on LSD when it first came out at the Cinedome. I spent the whole 2 1/2 hours watching the curtains....

I just upgraded my DVD to blu ray last year because I got tired of waiting. To add insult to injury my first DVD got ripped off by a room mates friend. So this will be the 4th time I buy it but I don't care, I love this movie so much and I can't wait to see the new extras from Criterion.

Curtains in movie theaters are so underrated.

Haha that's great. First time I did mushrooms, I was a freshman in college. The door handle to my dorm room's door had a small yellow light that would flash when you put your key card in. My buddy and I stood there and marveled at it for a good half hour.

The last time I did mushrooms, which was on the day of the total eclipse this past August, I found myself waist-deep in a lake somewhere on the border of North Carolina and Georgia with 4 other guys with my eclipse glasses on. Later, when the sun was coming out again, I laughed my head off as I watched my 2 friends swimming/flipping around in the water for hours like sea cows while I lay sprawled on the rocky beach seeing a giant mushroom behind the sun.

Sure beats watching a movie.

That sounds awesome. Probably the best trip I had was going down to the beach in San Diego with three other dudes in college. Your sense of adventure and wonderment is so heightened. You just want to explore shit haha.

Totally. It amazes me how things that are ordinary and trivial in our everyday reality are suddenly seen with a newfound awe and curiosity. I'm always initially afraid of eating them (it had been a few years since I had a "trip" of this extent) but its a medicine and resets the psyche (and thus I am quickly humbled). I firmly believe that those 99% of people who are afraid of shrooms are people who have never experienced them before. Most cinephiles and people I know who like watching Criterion films have never touched the stuff, but I'm glad we are a couple of rare exceptions! Now lets go out there and direct some masterpieces!

Yeah, a good trip once in a while is truly one of the most enjoyable things you can experience. Although, I do believe that more close-minded individuals are going to be taken to places they don't really want to be taken on psychedelics, so you really have to know who you are before you take them.

There was a guy who begged me and a couple of my buddies to take shrooms with us. He's a frat boy type, not real open-minded. And he had a nightmarish trip, started crying and was just in an awful place. But if you're open-minded, as most cinephiles tend to be due to the very nature of being so strongly into a creative medium, then it can really open up your mind and have positive long-term effects IMO.

Plus it specifically says that it is not out of print in the ‘details’ section. Probably waiting for a second print.
