I’m all about gun to control and I’m not saying take away the guns from everyone Im realistic. Laws should be more strict. I would have thought last year after republicans were doing baseball practice and got shot at and some nearly died it would have made a difference but it didn’t. So I understand BFC but Michael Moore ... I just can’t with him.

I think Bowling For Columbine would be a great addition for Criterion. It's an Oscar winner and is arguably more relevant today than when it was made. Last edited by drat; 12-31-2017 at 06:16 PM. |

I've enjoyed most Moore films, even if they're apparently a bit manipulative, which can be said about many documentaries to be fair. I'm not sure how much replay-value BfC has though. I certainly don't have any desire to see it again.

Twilight Time has released Breaking Away on Blu-ray in the US, but given it’s a limited release and it will likely go OOP, it is possible. Same situation for Wild at Heart.

Agreed. Even though I think it’s a great film, I don’t see any replay value either, unlike some other great documentaries like The Cove, Hoop Dreams, Undefeated, etc.

iScottie: Whoever that person was on Reddit was pretty damn clever. I could see Bringing Up Baby being the clue with the skeleton! Mr. Bone is still one of the funniest character names I ever heard of (I even used the name "Mr. Bone" in one of my comedic short films for a character I played).

I wanted to weigh in on Bowling for Columbine. At times I feel its an exploitation film, but at other times I feel its an important documentary film that many filmmakers wouldn't have the balls to make. Sure, the final scene with Charlton Heston was a bit ridiculous, but it's Moore's best film, and if Criterion chooses one film of his in the collection, this would be the one I'd choose to showcase. Obviously, gun massacres aren't going away anytime soon, so this film being re-released can only bring more awareness to a neverending problem.

So after years of having A Matter of Life and Death in my CC profile as most wanted just because it's one of the more well known archer films which I have not seen.
I decided to watch it for the first time in Filmstruck and it was definitely not what I was expecting in the way that it is not on the same level as the ones already released for me. It's visually stunning and has all the same technical qualities of the others but at some point when... [Show spoiler] and when they go back to the plot I could not get completely into the movie again so I don't think I enjoyed the ending as much as I should.Anyway... most wanted now is Dancer in the Dark, do it Criterion ![]() |

Criterion fares very well in Beaver's annual review. Four titles in the Top 10, including the top three (it's a massive article; the link jumps to the Top 10):
http://www.dvdbeaver.com/Blu-ray_and...ay-of-the-year I always enjoy Gary's enthusiasm, and appreciate the huge effort he and other contributors put into the site. ![]() |

it's a bad film with a lot of silly presumptions & conjecture (i.e. the columbine kids were influenced by the military industry in the area.....what? or that Canadians don't lock their front doors.....what?)
