God help me if my tax return posts before the Flash Sale goes live. As it is, I'm planning on buying six, maybe seven films, keeping in mind I have a stack of Barnes & Noble gift certificates I'm holding until their next sale.

If Uncle Sam wires my money before that magical 24 hours comes about, I might do something rash.

Belle de Jour is now listed on Janus Films's website.

If the rumors are true, this will be the second film Criterion will re-release on home video (the first one being Monterey Pop).

Would Five Easy Pieces count too, or no? I believe the individual release is slightly different from the one in the box set.

Some people felt there wasn't enough Catherine Deneuve.

I think many will prefer the older transfer of Belle de Jour. The new restoration can be a little drab, and leans more blue.

You can see comparisons here: https://www.caps-a-holic.com/c.php?g...07449&i=10&l=0

What's taking so long for Criterion to release UHD BDs? It's not like there's a format war.

They probably don't think it would be profitable to do so, and they're a business, so....

Oh wow. That packaging for The Silence of the Lambs is just truly gorgeous. I'm now even more excited for release date to arrive, if that is even possible!

I suspect a year down the line Criterion will make additional money selling plastic case replacements for these digipacks.

I prefer that, something more durable. The digipak looks pretty but it won't be in a year's time. Unless you keep it all wrapped up all the time....

Neither have I. I do keep them in the plastic and only open the side that holds the disc(s) so maybe that helps. Also, I've had much better luck with digipaks arriving undamaged than the regular cases. Those Scanavos have arrived cracked, broken with pieces inside, or with "floaters."

Yeah, floaters, I absolutely hate the sound of what seems like a loose disc in the case. Luckily, Blus seem to be a little more resilient when it comes to getting scratched unlike DVDs and CDs, so I haven't had any damaged that have arrived like that (knock on wood), but the thought of it irritates the hell out me.

Yeah, a real mood killer when you get an order you've been looking forward to, only to hear that rattling noise or the sound of little bits of loose plastic in a case.
