That's probably it -- Jackson has been talking since the laserdisc of "The Frighteners" came out about doing similar docs with all of the behind-the-scenes footage he shot for his first three movies, and has consistently been too busy to actually do any of the work himself (he seems to want to be involved in that process, possibly just because he enjoyed doing that for "The Frighteners" when he had months of waiting with nothing better to do than cut together the doc). For that matter, it seems like even once they finish the restoration work, it will languish for years like "True Lies" or "The Abyss", waiting to be approved by a director who in theory really wants to be hands on but in practice is far too busy with other things.

I'm not sure. I heard it was just rumors, but I'm hoping it's true.

I'm sorry of I'm asking in the wrong place, but I have questions about FilmStruck? Is there a specific post or thread that addresses all of this? Thanks so much for any help.

Still wish we got Lost Highway

I’ve heard people claim Criterion has it but, I haven’t found any evidence.

I'm really getting impatient with Criterion over Lost Highway. Such a big hold up for this one if they indeed have it, which has been rumored for quite a while. I'm tempted on getting the recent German release from last month but I've seen no reports regarding its quality.

It would be nice, but for now I'm happy with my region free Concorde Bluray copy.

A release is likely, considering the rights holders are frequent Criterion collaborators. In fact, they have the rights for two other Criterion-released Lynch titles, Eraserhead & Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. But it is not known whether or not they actually have it licensed.

It has been reviewed

That’s the old German disc. He’s talking about the 2018 one. There’s also a Japanese “remastered” disc from last year. I wonder how either disc is.

Who'd love to see Peter Jackson's cult 1989 adult muppet classic on BD from Criterion with new 4K restoration and some extras?
lol, i was literally just telling someone about this movie 2 days ago when they mentioned the upcoming movie "Happytime Murders" ... unfortunately, it's been so long since i've seen it that i remember almost nothing specific about it

I finished watching three brilliant French classics released through Studio Canal, Le Corbeau, Quai Des Orvefres, and Le Trou. A real shame if Studio Canal still hold the rights to these films since Criterion would have released any one of these films by now. I'm glad I have a region free player for that very reason.

I would buy this Day 1. For some reason or another, I haven't watched this film.

Speaking of French films, does Studiocanal only have the rights to La Bęte Humaine in France or everywhere? The reason I ask if it did why would the old Criterion DVD still be in print? I looked at the Criterion DVD entry on here and I don't see Studiocanal. I love if it got a North American release and it can be said it was also one of the precursors of film noir.

I enjoyed The Hobbit trilogy, as did a whole lot of other people. It wasn’t as good as The Lord of the Rings, but it was still enjoyable, and returning to Middle Earth, and a much beloved story from my youth, was worth every penny I spent in the theater, and on the blu-ray releases.
