Just eyeballing it, I'd say it's about 10 inches tall.

Looks like between now and November 20th I'm going to some rearranging of my movie shelf.

After the earthquake we had earlier this year I moved the big sets off the top of my shelves. Among the fallen were The Ten Commandments and Ben Hur. I took that as a sign from above to change my shelvish ways!

I don't mean to hijack the discussion, but I'd really like a Criterion treatment of Melancholia. How likely is that?

Not very likely. Unless they could do stuff like licensing the director's commentary and the Filmbyen documentary on the Artificial Eye blu-ray or generate sufficient new bonus material to offset those. Is there any special relationship between Criterion and Lars Von Trier that would stimulate them to do a second version of his movies already out on blu?

Totally understood.

I live in Michigan, though, and the last earthquake we had was when I was in 5th grade (I think Carter was President). So, not too worried.

I did live in LA for about 1-1/2 years, but luckily nothing bad happened there.

LOTS of talk about The Clouds of Sils Maria on Twitter this morning. They keep talking about how awesome K-Stew was, and I totally agree. Apparently it's available now on @criterionchannel.

I have the Blu, so need to stream. But it did remind me that somehow I "forgot" to order Cold Water. I mean, a lot has been going on personally, so I understand it. But it irritates me. I need to fix that pronto. Assayas has never let me down.

Probably not. I had just thought that maybe, since they released Antichrist, they'd release this and Nymphomaniac.

Honestly, those have pretty decent releases already. I mean, sure, I'd love a Von Trier box or something from Criterion. But I'm not screaming for a new release os these films, either.

THere are definitely others I would rather see (more Godard Blu upgrades, for instance).

I watched House last night as part of my October horror marathon.

If I have one problem with this picture, it’s the use of music.

The main theme plays almost nonstop the entire time, with occasional bursts of crazy Kung fu music.

It’s monotonous.

It becomes nauseating.

...it’s too much.

Hausu is basically one super long Mentos commerical, so a jingle going through the whole thing makes complete sense.

Looks like I'll still have to wait for Criterion to upgrade Juliet of the Spirits. The region-free Cult Films release got pretty bad marks over at DVDBeaver.
