It's so bad that Svet didn't include a single screenshot from the film in his review.

I actually did not mind A Safe Place. I know that it's an oft-maligned movie on here, but I found it to be a passable slice of early 1970s atmosphere. I enjoy certain dialogue exchanges, like when Tuesday Weld is talking about phone numbers.

This fascinating article about film preservation confirms that The Koker Trilogy is forthcoming by Janus Films and Criterion.

Sorry for the dark picture but it does make the Bergman set look like it's glowing from within.

Going through my Xmas Criterion haul:

The Princess Bride
True Stories
They Live By Night
Le Samouraï
Some Like It Hot

And got an IOU on the Bergman set, which should get here in February.

I have to say, if this wasn't the year of the Bergman box and Tree of Life, True Stories would be a slam dunk as the release of the year. The packaging is hilarious, the transfer is stupendous, the film is something of a revelation, and I'm honestly amazed about the sheer wealth of extras. A really stunning release.

IDK if this has been posted yet. It looks like the trailer and poster for Police Story & Police Story 2 are up at Janus:

For proof, look no further than the Police Story series, the first two installments of which were recently restored in 4K by Fortune Star at L’Immagine Ritrovata laboratory in anticipation of a Criterion Collection release, with the announcement of a full theatrical run, a brand new trailer, and poster debuting exclusively on Polygon.

Not really new news since the pages for both films have been up on the Janus website since September.

I was hoping they will fix the messed-up colors for the US release but it looks like they didn't.

A trailer doesn't necessarily reflect the final product.

I would assume that they are under the same restrictions as Eureka, and can't alter the video.

Since we're days away from the 2019 puzzle, I decided to look back at 2018.

Likely:

Dead Man
Graduation

Possible:

The Thin Man series
Paper Moon

Who the Hell Knows:

The Tree of Life: Extended edition
"L" Knight??
The only things here that were speculated that didn't come to fruition is Thin man, Paper Moon and whatever the knight was.

It seems there was speculation on Bringing Up Baby too, and as much as I would adore that we're still without any news on that front. Someone also theorized that the 9 graduation caps was also referencing 4 months, 3 weeks, and 2 days which must have been true as well since it's now coming out next month.

Also interesting how Scarlet Empress was actually part of a bigger boxset.
