Criterion are out of their goddamn minds putting War and Peace on only 2 discs. They’re cheapening out...

It's pretty in line with their longer film output as far as I can tell, Shoah is two hours longer with additional films that add up over two hours and it's only on 3 discs. Dekalog is four discs but it also has the two theatrical versions..

Eh, they were able to fit Jeanne Dielman with extras on one disc that looks good, and that one's nearly four hours.

Well, maybe next time.

As always, this is an interesting spread of films. War and Peace tops the list for me, but there are several others that I could find tempting on down the road. And FWIW, I think all of the cover art this month is terrific.

Sure, but it’s easily too bitstarved. I doubt even David M could save it on 2 discs. 7+ hours on 2 discs with what seems like over an hour or two of extras is absurd. They should’ve put this on 3 discs at least, preferably 4- 3 for the film, 1 for the extras. That would work out perfectly.

War and Peace for sure. Long, historical epics are my bread and butter.

Also very excited for Swing Time.

Some good releases for the month of June. For me, Hedwig and the Angry Inch might be a future purchase.

Only War and Peace for me this month. One of my most anticipated blind-buys ever.

On the big Ingram Bergman boxset I looked at the page but was wondering if it contains the making of Fanny and Alexander which the fanny and alexander boxset has right?

This was a big month for the New Year’s drawing. War and Peace, Swing Time, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and La vie de Jésus were all hinted.

Yeah, I try to limit my predictions to 2 NYD hints since I figure they'd want to spread them out, but I think they're almost done at this point lol.

War and Peace and Swing Time for me. I think we'll probably get the Astaire-Rogers films individually which I'm willing to wait for. Hopefully, Top Hat, is next.

Yes, it is there on it's own disc like the F&A 3 disc release.

For many, there's the shelf space, the shipping for international customers, maybe not all are interested in all of the films, some prefer buying them one by one.

Probably soon. Though I wouldn't be surprised if they go up and then go unavailable before going back up again.
