I believe you'll need to use the Criterion app on your smart TV, or on a Roku, Firestick or similar device. AFAIK, that app hasn't been released yet, but it will be available by the time the service goes live. In the meantime, you can watch the "preview" movies via a browser on your computer, tablet or smartphone.

I've tried streaming movies in a browser on my TV and it usually doesn't work.

They have more films now? I thought it was just the one movie for Godzilla. Day one for sure

I plan on spending a bit during the B&N sale in July:

Panique
Mikey and Nicky
True Stories
In the Heat of the Night
Death in Venice
Detour
Wanda
I Wanna Hold Your Hand
Night on Earth
Stranger Than Paradise
Diamonds of the Night
A Face in the Crowd
Funny Games
Blue Velvet
One Sings, The Other Doesn't
Hedwig & The Angry Inch
War and Peace
Swing Time

I hope there aren't too many July releases I'll need.

Thanks.

I just watched Detour on my computer. I thought it was pretty good. Was going to blind buy it during the July b&n sale. I won’t now. I liked it, but not enough to own it. The quality on the streaming was quite good. I’m definitely glad I signed up for it.

Sure buys for the July sale:

A Face in the Crowd
In The Heat of the Night
La vérité
The Freshman
The Kid Brother

Maybes - some of them, not all. If not during this sale, then surely during October.

Anatomy of a Murder
Elevator to the Gallows
M
Good Morning
Three Outlaw Samurai
Tokyo Drifter
Branded to Kill

- For other titles, I'll wait until October. Other titles like Police Story, Swing Time, and War and Peace I'll be pre-ordering and not waiting. And then it is possible I still pick up a few titles between August and September.

Are there some new rumblings that suggest this is possible? If so that could get me to shake up my July sale buys.

Default George Clouzot’s La Verite

Just watched this excellent Criterion disc. The Clouzot doc included in the supplements references his failed movie, The Inferno, which might have been another masterpiece had he kept his wits about him, and survived a little longer. If you haven’t checked out the Arrow bluray release (George Henri Clouzot’s The Inferno) of the documentary of the making of it I’d recommend checking it out. It’s excellent, and region free. Oh, what might have been.....

Not really, but Criterion has occasionally put out some sort of box set in July, so it's just wishful thinking.

I had a similar thought while watching Arrow's George Henri Clouzot’s The
Inferno
. If only he could have pulled it together. Avoid the Flicker Alley
edition, it's not an excellent transfer. Clouzot's previous film Le Prisonnierre
(1967) strays into s/m territory but never fully commits. The Studio Canal
blu-ray is generally overlooked.

I just watched Richard E. Grant’s closet video and, per usual, only one of his selections are in my collection.

...usually it’s zero.

These goddamn hipster celebrities with their fabulous wrap-around scarves and haughty taste in cinema.

Maybe i’m just pathetic.

Wake up every morning and dress your dog with the debonair panache of Richard Grant and you’ll feel much better about yourself.

Or, put an ascot around his neck, and start calling him Bogdanovich.
