Well, I had already met Jim a couple of years back when his SQÜRL project came to perform here, plus got a photo of him with my friend (not a selfie!).

Also, he was talking to a guy that resembled Jeff Bezos, so I didn't want to interrupt those 2. Who knows, maybe Jarmusch plans to go MUCH BIGGER soon enough. J/K.

Copping the Bergman Set, Police Story & Three Colors Trilogy this upcoming sale.

I'm on the fence about whether or not I should jump for a blind-buy of Dekalog. The concept of the series sounds amazing, and I love Kieslowski's Three Colors trilogy, but I wasn't a fan of The Double Life of Veronique (or Blind Chance for that matter).

Would anyone here recommend a blind buy of Dekalog to someone who only dug late-era Kieslowski?

Also this is completely unrelated but does anyone know if we'll be getting any more Edward Yang in the collection anytime soon? Just saw that France released The Terrorizers on blu last year - I wonder if a Criterion restoration is in the works?

I love the songs of Tom Waits. I've owned Rain Dogs here at home. He has a rather unique vocal style, though, that one cannot deny. My Cookie Monster statement was a compliment.

I got halfway through Mystery Train last night before the sleep monster got me, so I'll finish it and review it tonight. (It's a pleasantly engaging movie and a beautiful-looking movie, but I was just sleepy on a Sunday night.)

Anyone going to Il Cinema Ritrovato in Bologna? Any tips? Lee Cline of Criterion will be there to introduce Blue Velvet and Hedwig and the Angry Itch.

The Dekalog is probably a lot more accessible than Double Life. I think it’s worth a blind buy

Let me offer a bit of wild (unconfirmed) speculation...Harlan County USA is currently unavailable on Criterion's website. Please, please, please announce it today. If they don't, I'll pull the trigger for the DVD at the upcoming B&N sale.

I caught this again on TCM just recently. Great documentary.

You've inspired me Owl - I'm going to have a Jarmusch festival after I pick up the two new ones during the sale next month. Really happy to see you reviewing the past releases too. If I could only keep 10 Criterion releases, Down By Law would probably be among them. Just hope that day never comes.

Off the top of my head:

Paper Moon
After Hours
Straight Time

Just to name a few.

Count me in with getting started on Paramount's remaining catalog titles!
