It would be nice if Criterion allowed you to buy extra Odorama cards for Polyester if you had guests over to watch.

Plus, I hope they get sniff #2 correct this time. The New Line DVD Odorama cards were defective and didn't have the #2 odor on it. Just a blank sniff.

Definitely getting the Chaplin. Fists in the Pocket sounds very intriguing.

As for John Waters, someday I need to expand my horizon's further than Serial Mom, which is just a blast of a movie.

Interesting thing I noticed in this Charlie Rose interview with the Beastie Boys:

At the 28:00 mark they show footage from the "Rat Cage" music video which came out well after the Criterion DVD, and it says "courtesy of Criterion collection".

So Criterion had the rights for future music videos as well? They need to stop sitting on these. Now is the time to release an updated and complete blu-ray set now that the Beastie's are retired as a group and are doing retrospectives lately with their book and documentary.

Yeah, it's a weird quirk that really only becomes apparent when they are releasing stuff from their laserdisc days. I noticed it on "The Princess Bride" because they're very specific that the Criterion exclusive bonus features are from 1993, whereas the other interviews are just undated "archival".

Man, the last few months of announcements have been brutal for Ray Jackson.

The only title that’s given me a chubby is Blue Velvet.

A lot of films i’ve never heard of by a lot of directors i’ve never heard of with a lot of stories that don’t sound terribly interesting to me.

How long can it go on like this?

...i’m starting to lose touch with the collector I used to be.

I can't begin to state how thrilled I am that Local Hero is finally making its way to Blu-ray, and as a Criterion disc!!

(I guess I can finally stop with my once-a-month emails.

I am a bit shocked they only did a 2K scan though...

They specifically state "digital restoration" not scan. They (or Warner) could of scanned at 4K but the workflow was done in a 2K resolution.

Sadly I've been in the same boat Ray. It's definitely been strange lately with almost every label the past couple years but especially this year. Luckily Pacific Heights just got an announcement by the Sony MOD line so it's not totally bleak.

The Criterion Channel is featuring a 27-film Kurosawa retrospective this month. I don’t know if Criterion has the rights to all of them, but a mega-set around the end of the year would not surprise me.

FISTS IN THE POCKET though. A movie that's definitely in my Top 100 of all time. Can't believe it made it to BD. This is a dream.

I had not thought of Fists in the Pocket in years and literally just a few days ago, without provocation, I found myself wondering when it was going to be released on Blu-ray.
