Yes, but usually only when the 15th is on a weekend with a Monday holiday so they announce on Tuesday.

Sports fans have NBA free agency.
Blu-ray collectors have Criterion announcements on the 15th.

Both seem to get pretty irate when announcements take time

Agreed with others, it's got to be Toho. They are notorious for being super controlling and nitpicky about everything. Remember when they made Media Blasters recall the original Destroy All Monsters release because it included the AIP English dub? And also made them wipe clean all extras off of Megalon (although some of the DVD version with the extras leaked out by accident later on). They are probably hell to work with, and Criterion is doing their best.

They said to stay tune for “updates” so there might not even be announcements tomorrow, either.

Yeah, I think Toho wants to control the announcement, and promote it at comic Con simultaneously

So either:
Rights issues
Trailer editing computer problems
Someone at Criterion is having some sort of personal issues
Criterion is intentionally delaying the announcement.

I just wish they’d stop saying “tomorrow.”

Which makes sense, as far as a Godzilla set is concerned, but not really for other announcements.

Turns out it was ALL just because they were waiting for their good pal Wes Anderson to approve the COVER of their "Moonrise Kingdom" re-release. He was so busy, you see, that he couldn't get back to them on that for three days...

Well, that and Manhattan hipsters love to hit the town by Happy Hour...

So, we all waited three days that time, too.
We’re gonna find out these delays were all over the same situation, but with Isle of Dogs instead

You guys and your Toho hate is hilarious.
Especially when you're using an example of a company that should be blamed for trying to release stuff not approved by Toho for release.

Lol the assumptions. If it's truly Toho that is holding it up, then the opposite of your post is true. Criterion will not release it without Toho's final approval, so they're not "trying to release stuff not approved by Toho". They're, if true, holding up an entire month of releases to ensure that is not the case.

This would make sense if it’s grand budapest. And he’s working on a movie in France right now
