From what I can usually recall, the box set has a number and then the individual films have numbers. So like a trilogy box would be #1, and the individual films would be #2, #3, and #4.

Aha! Well, now we know for sure. I’m not a big Godzilla/kaiju guy but I’m happy for those who are.

That packaging is horrid although the art is pretty cool.

Anyways good on Criterion for not capitalizing on the mountain of free press by announcing this at conic con where the world was watching and instead just throwing it up on the website without any real fanfare.

I really like the art but hate the graphic novel inspired book packaging. I don't want to spend that much money and feel like I'm getting a comic book. Much prefer the packaging on the other sets Criterion have put out.

Yeah, but read what it says:

Both the Japanese-release version and the U.S.-release cut (the latter presented here) were rousing hits, cementing Godzilla’s status as a series-worthy star.

Unless I'm mistaken, it doesn't include the original Japanese version.

Look at the special features. The Japanese version is included as a bonus. For the first time ever in North America

Only six of the films will have dubs, plus the American versions of King of the Monsters and King Kong vs Godzilla. Oddly the dubs for Godzilla vs the Sea Monster, Hedorah, and Gigan aren't listed even though the Kraken releases included them.

I'm happy for all you Godzilla fans. I'm not one of them. The first one is okay. The rest are barely watchable, although my son and I did watch a few of them last year. We laughed and laughed and laughed.
