Not particularly but I'm not someone who gets easily butthurt if someone is critical of a label, blu ray release, particular film, etc. to where I disregard anything they have to say or question from there on out either.

So being fed up with the talkers, on the rare occasion I do go to a theater now, I sit in the last row so no one can sit behind me and explain the movie out loud or take hours to open up a noisy bag or get head from another guy (oh yes, happened in a theater I was in in Los Angeles). Unfortunately, depending on the theater, sitting in the last row negates the experience of the big screen so I may as well just stay at home and be comfortable in my home theater. No commercials, no 25 consecutive volume busting trailers, no aurora borealis cell phones, no socially challenged morons.

And btw, there’s nothing revelatory about what he’s saying either because everyone and his brother already figured out that Criterion are using the same master as the Fox release.

I never eat during a film. But I don't eat a whole lot to begin with.

But I HAVE TO have something to drink. But, again, that's de rigeur for me. When at home, it's the same thing. Vodka? Great. No vodka? OK, beer. No beer? Gatorade. Etc. Until I'm down to water. I honestly don't know if it is just habit, or if it's biological, or if it's a mixture of the two, or something else entirely.

I would never buy a nonalcoholic drink at the theater but since some theaters have started selling beer I'll occasionally get a beer ( highly overpriced ).

To minimize the potential for disturbance, I've found booking tickets for a late-night showing, or deep into a film's run, to be quite effective.

I agree myself. Imagine if you took some of today's audiences and transported them back in time to a movie screening in a theater in 1981 somewhere in a big city and placed them amongst those living in that time period. You'd have outright bloodshed! People would be so furious to suddenly see "flashlights with screens" light up amongst the packed crowd there to see a new blockbuster movie from Steven Spielberg. But the worst is, yes, as you said, those that feel the need to talk during the film and discuss what's going on out loud, even if they're whispering, that literally jolts me from my seat. I recently had to switch seats to an entirely different section because this young couple behind me couldn't keep their mouths and bodies shut. Am I being a whining snob for saying this? You'll prob. respond with a "YES"!. Same goes with people talking loudly in libraries. Since when is that appropriate? People used to "Shhhhh" others out of consideration. Comeon! Where's common courtesy these days? Does it even exist? I mean, if someone is kicking my seat, don't I have a right to tell them to stop doing this as I paid $15 to see a movie hoping to actually enjoy it?

Yeah, one time I went to see The Old Man & the Gun (Robert Redford's final film), sometime last year with a friend, and this meathead guy who looked like an ex marine was sitting in front of us on his phone. The light was so bright, it blinded us at times. My friend Marc asked him to please "shut your phone off". The guy responded back: "Shut the f*ck up man". My friend again asked him: "Sir, can you please shut your phone, we're trying to watch a movie for godsakes!" The guy then stood up and turned to us and said "F*ck you man!" Then about 5 or 6 other people in the theater (there were only about 5 or 6 others luckily there) all said: "Hey, can you guys be quiet!?" The guy bolted out of the theater and then my friend and I started freaking out thinking he was going to come back and enter with a gun and shoot us to shreds! About 5 min. later the guy returned, and I totally expected to get shot. I was like "okay, my life is about to come to an end all because of some f*cking meathead who couldn't shut his phone off!" He came right up to us and said out loud: "Hey, I'm sorry for disturbing you". Holy f#%*, my life was spared!

Anyway, my friend Marc is a bit of a hothead himself and isn't afraid to get into fights/arguments with strangers (unlike me)! So, we were lucky the guy didn't snap and pulverize us!

I haven’t seen a picture in theater since Blade Runner 2049.

I don't blame you for not going to theaters anymore.

I'm hoping to see the 4pm matinee showing of The Irishman tomorrow so hopefully there's less people in the audience around that time (compared to the 8pm showing). Granted, this is in a small neighborhood theater here so audiences usually are more well behaved than the big philistine cineplexes with obese nimrods driving in from the boondocks. HA ha ha.

Yeah, that's just wrong. The cinema I go to most often as a no hot food policy - they have a burger king & Pizza Hut right outside - even though they sell nachos & hot dogs in the actual cinema

Plus there is the stupid VIP at cineworld which includes a buffet & only costs £33 a ticket per person

Oddly enough, I've found the most respectful theater audiences are the ones for Marvel movies. Most of them are there to enjoy the movies, not for date night, and not because they really wanted to see some other movie that was sold out.

I've simply gotten out of the habit of going to see movies at the cinema for the most part. I'm perfectly happy to watch movies at home on UHD or BD or DVD or streaming. The ones I try to make a point of going to see at the cinema are ones that are in IMAX and/or 3D, simply because that's the only chance I have to see them in that/those formats (I don't have a 3D TV or player).

I used to see a lot of movies theatrically when I lived in the Boston area, as I had convenient access to several art/rep theaters -- the Coolidge Corner, the Brattle, the Harvard Film Archives, the MFA Film Program, et alia -- as well as cattleplexes. Now that I live in Concord, NH...not so much. There is a nice, small theater downtown that shows indie films (they currently have Harriet, Jojo Rabbit, and Judy, but my wife and I don't seem to manage to get there often enough.

Why does CC have a single seekbar for every TV film? As I watched the first half of World on a Wire yesterday, I found myself again wishing that each episode had a separate seekbar, instead of one four hour long one. I'm never ever gonna use the Play All option. Sometimes, I just wanna know how much longer before it's over, to know if I still have time or if I can take a breather soon.
