Damn, that's so much nicer. I wish Criterion would use slimmer cases like that more often.

In for the Rohmer set, very happy to see it get an upgrade.
And wow, what a difference in the Demy set. So much nicer. |

Definitely in for The Great Escape.
Hoping Criterion will include the fabled "Rick Dalton" cut as an extra... ![]() |

From what I understand, Scorsese doesn't want the excluded juvenalia out there. [Possibly excepting "Melting Point", inasmuch as I wouldn't think he owns that, as it was produced by the USIA.]

My $5.99 MGM Blu-Ray copy of "The Great Escape" will serve me just fine until the reviews of the Criterion version come out. No need to go crazy with a pre-order at full price until I know just how good it is.
I'm reminded of "Rebecca" of which I have the MGM version. The Criterion release was supposedly better so I purchased it during a 50% off sale. To be honest, to my eyes, I really can't see much, if any, difference between the two and I feel like I wasted $20. Obviously, I can only speak for myself and my almost 50-year old eyes. |
