Someone mentioned Peeping Tom earlier.

That's StudioCanal, right? And Kino has licensed some of their catalog?

End of line.

It may not be Hitchcock's best, but it's definitely worth a watch and I'd be glad if someone gave it a new scan.
The "Columbo" comparison seems a bit reductive to me (not trying to single you out there, just responding to the most recent reference). The story doesn't involve a police investigation or a detective at all, or even a "known" crime, and the murderers don't exactly have a clever plan for how to get away with it, they just strangled their roommate and are going to dump the body somewhere later. The movie deals a lot more with the psychology of both the murderer and the solver and how they are tied together than "Columbo" ever did. I love "Columbo", and I really enjoy "Rope" a lot, but I think setting people who haven't seen "Rope" up to expect anything like "Columbo" is just gonna disappoint "Columbo" fans.

Pretty sure the Kino Insider said they do not have that one or Tales of Hoffmann

I just picked up the UK Artificial Eye Atom Egoyan box set (and the Canadian Exotica Blu!), but heard this news, as well. Would be great if Criterion released any of his on Blu. I suspect Sweet Hereafter is the most logical first one out considering its reputation, but Exotica or The Adjuster (how timely again) could very well happen, as well... But I'm guessing that it will still be a while, and they will probably see how they do on the channel.

Gohatto, too...

I know many of you have interest in George Steven's A Place in the Sun. Bullmoose currently has a preorder link up for Australia's Import label release. The first batch of these were confirmed to be region free and I don't see why this next batch wouldn't be as well. Anyways, just some FYI.

Yes, I recall that. I think the suggestion was that both would likely come from Criterion at some point.

I'm conflicted whether to preorder this right away since I really want this title or wait until reviews come out after the debacle with Sorry, Wrong Number. I'll just bite the bullet and place the preorder.

I'll be patient and wait for Criterion, especially after what happened with Sorry, Wrong Number.

Cancelling preorders with Bullmoose is very easy. Note that their release date for this is two weeks after the official date in Australia, so I am fairly positive reviews for this title will be out in plenty of time to make a cancellation if necessary.

Also, DiabolikDVD will be carrying this, but aren't going to put a preorder link up. Only when they have it in stock will you be able to order it. So you will basically have to keep an eye out on their "New Arrivals" page.

Did the previous Imprint titles ship out after the official release date, I probably will place a preorder and then when reviews come out decide if I will keep it as long as I am not charged until September since August doesn't work for me as I have a lot of preorders for that month and I've already allotted a certain amount of money for BluRays that month.

For Bullmoose they did. They had the same two week delay in release dates for the first batch. That being said, I ended up cancelling my first Bullmoose order and switching to Diabolik when I saw they had them available. This was done specifically because Diabolik had them in stock and Bullmoose still hadn't shipped yet. So, I can't guarantee it, but I feel pretty safe that you will be able to cancel prior to shipment.

My guess is no since the central premise has not aged well at all.

Wonder if criterion has plans to release A Hidden Life? Also would like to see them do Seargent Rutledge and This Property is Condemmed.

As it's been said many times on this site, it's crazy just how many great movies have yet to arrive on blu. Here are some recent, kind of forgotten ones I was just thinking about the other day that I think would fit well with either Criterion or maybe more like Shout Select:

13 Conversations About One Thing (2001)
In the Bedroom (2001)
Nobody's Fool (1994)
Smoke (1995)
Spring Forward (1999)
Starting Out in the Evening (2007)
The Station Agent (2003)
Waitress (2007)
Wonder Boys (2000)

Yeah, I've wondered the same thing about the music rights in Smoke. I absolutely love that movie. That last segment set to Tom Waits' Innocent When You Dream is perfection.
