In years past, usually one of the October announcements was Halloween-themed. With that in mind, I give you my five Halloween-themed predictions:

Freaks (Tod Browning, 1932)
I Walked With a Zombie (Jacques Tourneur, 1943)
The Devils (Ken Russell, 1971)
Arsenic and Old Lace (Frank Capra, 1944)
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (Rouben Mamoulian, 1931)

I’d also add Onibaba to your list.

Grabbed the Bruce Lee set. Hopefully they don’t have stock issues like they did with the Bergman set.

5 out of 6 titles I wanted are available... $25 shipping + $5 "tax" to Canada... the border being closed is killing me... decisions, decisions...

EDIT: Now only 4 available. I guess I'll wait until the end of the sale and see if they restock and have all 6 items I want... or wait until Criterion's own sale.

The one that gave me fits last year was the David Lean Directs Noel Coward set. I never did get it until Criterion’s Flash Sale last fall.

Yeah, I’m crossing my fingers right now and if I had something to sacrifice I be thinking of doing it for good measure. I ended up getting the Bergman set from Amazon when they still haven’t got to their current levels of don’t care and still boxed well

I got:

Godzilla Showa set
BRD Trilogy
Petra VonKant
Paris is Burning
Magnificent Obsession
Polyester

Which was still eye wateringly expensive IN THIS ECONOMY. So that’s it for me for this sale.

I typically wait for Criterion's own flash sale but it's been getting harder to get the titles I want through those sales, they sell out of stuff so fast. Probably going to be the same with this sale but I might have to swing by a B&N store and see if they have any ones I'm after.

Tried to preorder Elephant Man but it didn’t give the discount. Paths of Glory said it was out of stock when I tried to get it so that was dissapointing.

Yes. I sold my WB release on ebay for $10 because I planned on buying the Criterion during this sale. The Criterion release has:

1. The correct aspect ratio (1.66) while the WB is zoomed in to fill out 1.77.
2. Improved detail, grain structure, and colors thanks to being a 4k resoration.
3. Lots of extras. The WB only has the SD trailer as an extra.

The only potential risk I can think of is having to dip again if WB decides to do a 4k release down the line. Similar to Sony with Dr. Strangelove.

Anybody who has a B&N near them with a Criterion section, and is able to go there, should try to order their items online, but for pickup. It helps the individual store with positive sales and maybe help that store stay open and well staffed. I think many stores are offering curbside pickup if you don't want to go inside. It's more reliable for the packaging than shipping is, especially with boxsets (not perfect though. risk of spider packaging damage sometimes). Lastly, it will leave more of the online shipping/warehouse inventory available for other buyers who don't have the luxury of being near a B&N, or at least one with a Criterion section.
