Seriously, how did Come and See and the Bruce Lee set sell out that quickly?
Anyway, only two of the titles I want are in stock which isnt enough to justify the shipping, so probably sit this out. Check back in two weeks to see if anything came back.
I looked at the sale as soon as it started last night, and those are actually the 2 releases that I ordered. I feel partially at fault. Sorry

With the talk of Bergman (not in stock, apparently) and Agnes Varda (not in the sale), and the anticipation of Bruce Lee----I'm hoping on Monday or Tuesday Criterion drops an early announcement for the Fellini set.

Great to see the B&N event actually taking place, and doubly surprised to see a WAC 4/$44 sale start the same day. I may have to push most of my Criterion buying to the Flash Sale as there are a ton of WAC titles on my list.

I had Come and See and four other titles in my cart at 4 30 this morning but decided "well, its the first day of the sale and I dont know if I should spend the money, will wait till the morning to figure it out" and then when I checked again 3 out of 5 were out of stock, along with practically every other goddamn title in the sale.
The ones I truly wanted were Lady Eve and The Cameraman which are both in stock but now Im just going to buy them in town as the cost of shipping is not worth it for only 2-3 titles.

If I could only have one of these on a desert island, it would be A Matter of Life and Death.

I'm going to pass on this B&N sale (usually do since I like purchasing on Criterion's Flash sales to gain 'points' + plus I've ordered too many blus recently and need a breather). Just want to say happy hunting everyone and may everything on your wishlist be in stock!

As for me I'll continue to modify my Criterion cart for October.

i'm SO annoyed w/ myself for not noticing this in the store. i'm usually really good about these things. it's not a short trek back to the store, but my membership discount is still good for 12 more days, and i forgot to grab War of the Worlds, anyway...

Is Amazon price-matching? I see a few Criterions have gone down in price a bit, but most are still between 28-35.

Ooof!

That's too bad. The only issue with returning to B&N is if they don't have another copy there and then. I suppose they could ship one to you. Also, Criterion might help out. They've gone above and beyond many times for similar issues.

No. They never price-match the B&N sale directly. Some titles may drop as low as 50% at various times, which may coincide with the B&N event.

The Cameraman: Well, Keaton. I love him.
The Lady Eve: This has been one of my most-wanted since I started collecting blu rays. Stanwyck and Preston Sturges. Henry Fonda is just gravy. As soon as I found out the B&N sale was live, I quickly canceled my Amazon pre-order.
The War of the Worlds: I'm not really that big of a sci-fi fan, but the pulpy/comic-book style cover art and the extras sold me on this one.

The Cameraman and The War of the Worlds are blind buys for me.

With so many sales happening lately, I've got to spread my spending out a little. Hopefully, I will be able to put in another order at the end of the month.
The Cameraman is Keaton at his finest, IMO. It's a pity what MGM did him to him in the confines of the studio system and everything in his personal life at the time. Least it had a happy story by the 1940s and Keaton died happy and well respected.
