What type of player do you have? How old is your player? When was the last time it was updated? And, yes, Criterion discs load very quickly in my player.

Almost all of the Wes Anderson films are currently $19.97 each on Bull Moose.

Free shipping for orders $30 and over.

Anyway, I will not make my way through the 19 saved releases to see if I really want to look into taking advantage of this sale, some potential kind help here, or or see if Criterion released a UK counterpart etc.
I certainly expected to see more titles of interest.
Are the titles on B&N all the titles that Criterion still prints or just a smaller selection?
Every Criterion title in print is eligible for the 50% event. Whether they appear on the B&N site is an entirely different matter (e.g., the Bergman set having disappeared but still being in print and available in-store, as I posted about above). It's what makes ordering from B&N sometimes frustrating, and having the ability to go into a store and tell an associate exactly what you want and have him/her place a special order very beneficial (not helpful to you, I know).

Do you have another player to try them on? All my Criterion releases load up in seconds.

I don't have this problem either. My Criterion discs loads within 15 or so seconds on my PS3. If it's taking over a minute, I think it's likely on your end.

Off-topic post, but as this has been wished-for by so many (including the hope of a Criterion edition), I thought I'd post it. Out on September 15th.

Which means Paramount will probably release a 4K only available on digital... cool

I don't know. I have a garden variety Sony and it loads within seconds.

Six Moral Tales is a significant upgrade from the DVD set.
2K transfers from the OCN's and one from an interpositive.
It looks absolutely stellar.

I wonder what the chances are of Criterion doing another Rohmer set -- perhaps the
Four Seasons films or the Comedies and Proverbs films.

I'm guessing somebody has the rights to the Comedies and Proverbs, since Kino lost the rights to Pauline at the Beach. I was surprised that Arrow didn't release it stateside when they released their set in the UK earlier this year, so maybe Criterion does have the rights. Either them or Arrow seem the likeliest candidates.

That cycle of movies is my favorite Rohmer.

I watched Come and See on Friday. The disc loaded in seconds on my little $75 region-free Sony player.

I had a reminder pop up today on my calendar identifying that 8/1 is "Wild Strawberries Annual Viewing." I assumed it had something to do with the movie, but I Googled it and can't find anything. Any ideas? Thanks.

Last two years it's run the entire month of November. There should also be a 24-hour 50% Flash Sale from Criterion in October.

I’ve been bored by other films definitely but I can see the appeal or by the end can be satisfied with the film as a whole but Husbands just never gave me that. I never thought I’d dislike a Cassavettes film like this. What are some of your worst blind buys?
Are you or have you ever been a husband?

As someone who has been part of this Criterion thread for 8 years I felt it was time to give something back to the community.

Over the last few months I spent hundreds of hours listening to various film scores and soundtracks in compiling my ultimate list of the top 100 most influential soundtracks in my life. These are all movie scores and soundtracks that I grew up listening to and love.

Today I finally finished this huge project and created this graphic as well as posted the complete list on my website. I invite you and anyone you know who loves soundtracks to good films to check this out immediately! There are even 13 soundtracks I've included that are linked to films in the Criterion Collection. Can you name and spot which ones?

If anyone wishes to leave a comment on my website, it will be highly appreciated! Thank you.

I love soundtracks, too, and consider them a fundamental part of my enjoyment of cinema. I'll check out your list in more detail, to do justice to your hard work - but just scanning the images, I see some great entries. Nice work!
