Anyone else get Wages of Fear yet? I've been waiting since I saw the pre-orders were shipping out a couple weeks ago (as post earlier in this thread (pg. 22 I believe). I haven't even recieved a shipment conformation on mine yet. And, I even pre-ordered the day it came back up. *sigh*

Sadly I don't know if I'm more excited for the movie, or to see, in person, the new boxes.

Isn't it obvious?

ALL previous Criterion BDs have bee region-locked to "A". Therefore, a Criterion Benjamin Button will be locked also, considering that the title has an international market. We may see region-free titles eventually (as some Criterion DVDs are Region 0) of some smaller, less well known works, but this obviously won't be one of those.

Paramount may well license the Criterion transfer/extras for use in non-US/Canadian BDs, and those may well be region-free, as may the US Paramount BD, given the studio's past region-coding stance.

yes... a little thicker than a normal Blu-ray case, and made of clear plastic.

I don't have a problem with one over the other..... but if they are going to re-release the first releases with the new cases, I'd like to keep my collection "Uniform"

well... I hate to be like this but I'm not gonna be buying the already released ones until I know for sure.

I can live with rebuying one for the case if the change is made but no more than that.

edit - 400 BLows is the only one I'm really looking to get very very soon (though the others are sure to follow)... does that have the new case? argh I hate being anal about this stuff!

edit2 - thanks Neo... then I don't have to even think about it at all. that's actually much more convenient and honestly I don't care which case it is, just that if I can have them all uniform I'll go for that.

Someone emailed them about potential case reissues, and they said they have no plans for that at this time.

Exactly. This is what Jon Mulvaney from Criterion has written back in e-mails to people, including myself, that have inquired about replacement cases for the first blu-rays.

1. The info was provided by Criterion.

2. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button will be distributed exclusively by Paramount, not Criterion.

I know that, but that doesn't necessarily mean that PHE owns the rights to the extras on the Criterion that were produced by Criterion (though they may well do). As I understood it, when Criterion releases a title "under license" (e.g. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas or Straw Dogs), they often produce unique extras that wouldn't be the property of the original U.S. distributor. But are you saying that the "joint production" between PHE and Criterion guarantees that PHE would own the rights to ALL of the material on the Criterion Benjamin Button disc?

Or are you saying that the Criterion BD will be the only US/Canada Blu-ray of Benjamin Button, like Buena Vista did with The Royal Tenenbaums on DVD? I was under the impression that there was a US/Canada PHE BD as well...

Curious, with the film "In the Realm of Senses" being a sexual, controversial film (yes, you see everything - although the film is not pornographic because it has a narrative and plot and the way it's filmed), because the film has no rating per se, is this a film that anyone can easily pick up?

Repulsion will force many to drop the Anchor Bay release(s).
