That's pretty much the theme of a Criterion film, Mikey and Nicky.

Just a heads up for anyone that was thinking of getting the UK Eureka release of Nashville now Criterion's is OOP - Eureka have confirmed theirs is OOP as well. Amazon UK currently have stock.
They have also said Paper Moon, another Paramount licence, will be going OOP when its licence expires at the end of the year.

I know Criterion have said no other titles are imminently going OOP but I'll be keeping the Paramount titles I still want at the top of my shopping list this year.

This is fun. The TSPDT list has been opened up for film lovers to cast a vote for their 25 favorite films to be aggregated and scored for later debate.

Since we are about 5 days away from the next batch of reveals, I truly hope we get a Japanese title this time around. It's just been too long. Too long...

Criterion usually sends pre-orders a littler earlier than street date right? WKW is the first pre-order I’ve gotten directly from Criterion and was wondering

I got my Fellini box set almost a week before the release date directly from Criterion.

An additional month free on top of the standard two-week free trial. I got the email as a "Thanks for shopping with Criterion" - which would have been the recent Flash Sale.

You guys think Criterion will ever put out an all-encompassing Kurosawa set like they did with Bergman?

Will they do it again with Blu-ray? I’d love to be wrong but I doubt it.

I don't know about "all-encompassing," but some kind of BD set seems inevitable. The bigger question is when.

going through my burn copies I got of the TV when I had cable some years back. I somehow don't remember this but Janus had Hanzo the Razor Sword of Justice. Of course back when I copied it I had no idea about Janus or the Criterion Collection.

Anyone know why they never put this out on home video? I should probably upgrade to a real release sometime anyway.

the Hanzo series was released on laserdisc by Animeigo and on a DVD boxset by HVE (now OOP).

As much as I'd love a criterion boxset I just can't see them doing it because of how politically incorrect it is (and yes, it's much more politically incorrect than Salo or anything else in the collection).

But I guess we can dream...

Maybe because of how dicey the conceit is? I have no idea, I’m just speculating. I know Animeigo had the rights to the Razor trilogy at some point but I’m not sure of the current status. They also had the Lone Wolf & Cub films which Criterion then put out so there is a precedent I guess.

thanks for the info. I kinda forgot about the other stuff since I remember of these type of films is the samurai stuff. might have to hold on to my burned copy if I can find one reasonable.
