Strong month.

I have a French release of La Piscine which lacks English subtitles, so I'll double-dip there. The Hawks and Tarkovsky are priorities, while Deep Cover and Working Girls sound very interesting.

I think this is the first time I've added every title to my list.

Very exciting news about Bringing Up Baby! We can finally cross it off our lists.

Solid, not spectacular, month.

Tarkovsky's Mirror is the one to own for me.

La Piscine for my wife who is a big Delon fan, so a perfect dinner/date at home selection. Baby is a buy, but it may take a back seat to a few other titles on my wishlist since we recently watched this on CC or TCM.

Working Girls? IDK, is Born In Flames on disc? That would have been my pick for C. Deep Cover? IDK if this is same movie I remember with Larry & Jeff from the 90's, but my recollection is it was unwatchable. Total BS with extra cheese dialogue and fantastical conspiracy sauce poured all over.

But, Bill Duke is Bill Duke, so I'm happy for him.

We need to campaign Pink Floyd's The Wall to be there.

Should we place bets on the tone and message of this sites review or??

Following got it, and Zodiac while WB, seems one of the films that needs it.

None of these *need* Criterion. Some of them have 4K UHD releases, which is much better than Criterion can provide, several already have releases loaded with special features.

I love Criterion more than most but we need to move beyond the label. There are so many boutique labels doing such great work.

The only thing that would get me interested in Criterion's Shining is the academy aspect ratio version in high definition. I already have the 4K.

Mona Lisa is coming on TCM this weekend, Sunday, 4/18 at 2:30 AM EST. Probably the Criterion transfer that is on HBO Max. Really hoping it airing on TCM and streaming on HBO Max is a good sign that it's coming from CC on blu ray soon.

Mirror is a movie that works like memory, how you don't remember things in the correct order. You may remember the middle first, then think of other things and remember the beginning later etc etc etc...so in Mirror you may see a shot or scene of something in the beginning of the film that won't make sense until 40 minutes later, when the "memory" of the film remembers the moment better. It's a watch the imagery and try not to think about it until it's over film. It'll make sense then.

I know what my July B&N purchase will include: Mirror and Bringing Up Baby. Mirror is the second movie I bought from Artificial Eye that Criterion has released recently, along with the upgraded Mouchette. So, that'll mean since I bought AE's bluray of Truffaut's Two English Girls aka: Anne and Muriel last December I've guaranteed for everyone out there a Criterion version of the film. You're welcome...

I wish I had that magic touch. I've been had my AE copy of Two English Girls for about four years now.
