I don't think I would have- scratch that.

I know I wouldn't have the restraint to pass up a third title for $10 more, even if there is no title that I immediately wanted.

I'd scour the catalog and look for something worthy that I had no interest in prior. A deal like that is the best opportunity to make an impulse purchase.

I thought about it, but figured the $10 was not expected (free money) and paid for shipping. Paid $40.68 for both. The B&N sale is in a few weeks, so there is no urgency to buy too much now. I really just wanted the Ashes and Sierra.

I gave in... making this the year's last haul–I have a ridiculous backlog and soon, hopefully, free time to catch up.

-$50 gift certificate.

I don't mind if some of these will get 4K releases later.

Due to your recommendation, I'll definitely grab that one during the next sale. I'm tapped out because I still have to buy the bundle from Mondo Macabro and make a large purchase from Kino before their sale ends.

I have a big enough backlog of not just Criterion movies, but also just movies in general to watch, but here's what I ordered. These are Christmas gifts though so I can't watch them until after Christmas so it gives me time to work on my backlog! These were all recommendations users gave me when the Barnes and Noble Criterion sale happened in July. So thanks again for the recommendations!

Sitting out the sale since an overseas customer but really awesome to see all the love for Ratcatcher in people's purchases. Amazing film and one of my top 3 first time watches last year.

is it me or did the flash sale seem to come later than normal? I wasn't prepared for it so I unfortunately haven't got anything.

Wasn't going to order something, but at the last minute decided to beef up my Hitchcock collection.

2nd (and final) order. I always like to grab an Eclipse set during these flash sales, as B&N usually has limited stock in-store anymore:

I got a couple for being a charter member of the Criterion Channel and for some other reasons. I usually buy from B&N, so I've just been saving them.

I was tempted to pick up the Criterion of Blow Out the other day. That one doesn't have a 4K master available, so it should be safe from a UHD upgrade in the near future I'm guessing..., although I'm sure there's an untapped market for a UHD release of a critically acclaimed Brian De Palma film starring John Travolta.

Seems like a good chance of going out of print before it ever gets a 4K release. It's a legacy 20th Century Fox title.
Is Criterion losing Fox titles because of Disney going to become a thing?

Which I guess would mean a UHD of Tree of Life is never going to happen, ever. Have any titles released theatrically under the Fox Searchlight banner gotten UHD releases? Scratch that, The Shape of Water has.

I don't rule it out. Criterion and Malick seem to have a good working relationship. Malick may have enough influence to get a deal done. All it takes is a phone call to the right person.

Still waiting for my order notification. Hard for me to decide what to buy but I had a $50 gift coupon that only made me end up paying ~$10 total for the movies I'm getting.

First, Hausu, which I forced myself to buy because of how fast it goes out of stock in all the previous sales so I went ahead and bought it, although I was surprised it was still in stock because I didn't order until a half day after the sale officially started. Fun film and very excited to see how this will look on Blu-ray in comparison to the digital streaming on Criterion Channel version that I've seen.

Second, The Naked Island, a film that is one of my favorite films of all time. Still have yet to buy the other Shindo films, including the now-popular Onibaba, which I really do hope to buy eventually. My favorite Shindo film by far and gives me many great memories of my childhood. Didn't know this but apparently my grandfather met Shindo and Otowa (Before they married) long ago and supposedly a picture of it exists. Don't think I'll ever find that photo but I'm still in disbelief that actually happened.

Lastly, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, which I chose over Sansho the Bailiff. Now Sansho is a much better film than Oshima's film, without a doubt, but I do think Mr. Lawrence is something I may be more interested in rewatching and it amazes me how beautiful the soundtrack is for that. While I'm not a big fan of the 1.78:1 version that was given to the Criterion Collection when remastering and transferring this, it's a very well shot and Oshima can never go wrong with his extreme tales of romance. I will have to buy Sansho next time, and hopefully I can remember to buy it as well as Last Temptation of Christ, which has been on my to-buy queue for the longest.
