What would people expect to be Criterion's first "foreign" UHD title? I think it'll either be a recent film like Parasite or Roma or one of the "legacy foreign" titles like Breathless, The 400 Blows, or The Seventh Seal. The 400 Blows would make the most sense, since it only has a boxset street date at this point, whereas the other two have either been released as standalones or have standalone street dates already.

But any of what I'd call the Big Six "legacy foreign" films seems game: The Seventh Seal, The Bicycle Thieves, 8 1/2, The 400 Blows, Breathless, Seven Samurai.

I'm not sure Portrait of a Lady on Fire is quite popular enough to justify a UHD release so early in their foray into the format, considering it hasn't even received a UHD in Europe yet.

Saying that, it could also be something like Talk to Her.

I'm sure that's it. They've been known to do that, especially with people who complain in this forum.

Hah, placed two orders about a minute apart. Got a shipping notice for the first yesterday morning. Second order only has three items all brand new releases and haven’t heard anything. I don’t care, but it’s always interesting to me the order in which these things start going out.

Yeah, that's pretty sad. Still, I think the torch could be passed to a new artist.

Good! More people should! It's what I always say, "I'm right, you're wrong, shut up"! The fact that Criterion doesn't pay attention to that is a crime against humanity and Blu-Ray's.

At least his art died with him. There are still plenty of artists out there who could bring their own spin to the Criterion New Year's hints. Hoping Criterion considers it at some point.
