Written on the Wind FINALLY. This has been one of my most wanted upgrades since Criterion first started releasing blu-rays.

Finally we'll have an edition to match All That Heaven Allows.

Yeah it's also my favourite Sirk film (and I think it's his best) and it's pained me that it has never had a great release on blu-ray. It's so gorgeously filmed, much like All That Heaven Allows with its lush Technicolor. I love the opening to the film and love how it begins with the climax and you're brought back in time to see how everything unfiolded the way it did. Then you have just fantastic performances from Dorothy Malone, Robert Stack, Rock Hudson and Lauren Bacall. The "dance of death" is one of my absolute favourite scenes in any classical Hollywood film.

I ALMOST caved and imported one of those cheapie overseas Universal releases just this week. So glad I decided against it. But based on those screenshots on Criterion's site, this looks remastered. That's definitely not what the current HD master looks like.

C'mon UHD. I'd still buy the BD in a heartbeat though.

Yeah, I was going to ask whether it could be a UHD title or not. I don't think All That Heaven Allows, or Magnificent Obsession are from 4K scans, so I do wonder if Written on the Wind got one. This looks to be from the same source as the 2016 French BD. I don't think 4K scan/restoration is mentioned anywhere, but I would have guessed it was based on how good it looks.

I'd like a stand alone release of The Last Picture Show. The only current blu-ray in the US is in a boxed set.

The UHDs might be new spines. No changes to pages for popular world classics. Maybe it's not too early for Double Indemnity or Amadeus?

I can't see Sirk films being big sellers in 4K, to be honest, so I doubt he'll be getting upgraded any time soon.

I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't announce UHDs today, as they're already releasing 7 UHD titles from November to January.

I really love this film (and book). I’ve been meaning to pick up the Arrow edition but I’d be thrilled if Criterion released it.

Blue Velvet 4K would be amazing as well.
