I'm more interested in the possibility of Disney finally being open to licensing in general. Talking about widespread licensing to different labels, not just random one-offs or small limited deals with Criterion. It's a crime that Twentieth Century Fox has essentially been erased from existence, with all of their treasures locked away in vaults.

I'm content with the release of 'Wall-E' I already have, but I am looking forward to Criterion getting into the titles controlled by Disney, especially the Fox library.

That's what I thought. It's a chance for all those titles locked in a vault in typical Disney fashion to come out. Maybe not Criterion but somewhere at least.

Not sure how great it is if Disney is getting their poisonous claws in Criterion.

The Blu-ray is as ugly as it can get, so hopefully this one gets a proper restoration release from Criterion. Fantastic film.

As a completely and totally unrelated side note...have you seen why Blonde got an NC-17 rating?

Echoing what others have already said, I am hoping this means there is some glimmer of hope for more 20th Century Fox titles to come back to light.

Criterion have licensed from Disney before, as discussed in this interview with Becker from 2000.

As Peppermint Patty says:

'This isn't like that one at all'

It's 2022. Not the same Disney market.

Well don't get your hopes up: Wall-E is already on 4K by Disney since March 2020 with multi dubs and subs, Criterion will over bill it by putting English only with special features (only part worth upgrading).
If anyone remembers Gravity Falls by SF licensed by Disney, that was a 1 off deal as well so this can be be too.
