I'm still hoping they get back to releasing Almodóvar films. Sony is including a UHD of 'Volver' in their upcoming mixed box. The one I really want is 'Talk to Her', so I can retire my DVD.

I think you guys are all on the right track with assuming the 'Three Colours' trilogy will be announced soon.

I will predict that we get UHD standalone of 'Chungking Express' announced soon too.

Aside from all the Fox titles I hope get picked up, I would like to see Takashi Miiki get into the Criterion Collection. I would personally vote for 'Gozu'.

It’s kinda wild to me that last year they actually announced on the 15th 8 of the 12 months, this year it’s been 2 of the 8 months of announcements so far. But hey, they’ll announce eventually so I’m cool either way. Plus there was a bonus announcement last week with Wall-E so I feel somewhat okay if there’s a delay.

I forgot who mentioned it, but outside of Ran, Criterion has nearly all of the Kurosawa films in perpetuity or at least the Toho ones. As for this one, they only got it a few years ago and Criterion usually looks at the long haul, so I wouldn't be surprised if only a fraction of the time has passed in terms of how long they have this for.

Nothing for me. For a brief second I read Velvet Buzzsaw and got excited, but that was only a brief second. I'm actually ok if December is a bit light for films, as it's going to take forever to get through the November titles. Until next month.

Yeah, light month, as expected. But, for anyone who hasn’t seen it, please check The Seventh Continent. Tough stuff, but kind of riveting as well. I haven’t seen the rest of the trilogy, but i just might pick this one up at half-price, though it will still be on the expensive side, given it’s not even described as a new high-def remaster.

Definitely more of a niche kind of month, but two 3-film sets from notable directors, a great recent documentary, and an updated release of an important film isn't bad at all.

Maybe the Haneke box someday... I already own the AE DVDs but an upgrade is always welcome.
