That cover art for Michael Haneke is the biggest turd I've seen in a while. It looks hideous and thrown together.

Agreed. Especially the .................": Trilogy".

Like what is that?

Other than Cooley High, all 3 covers are terrible for December.

I really like Velvet Underground's cover personally. Criterion didn't make or commission that one though, it's one of the official posters for the documentary.

Well, the silver lining for me this month is that Criterion has a deal with Apple, then they will probably release Killers of the Flower Moon. Probably the film I'm the most excited to see this year.

I’ve been recovering from that fun little covid and didn’t even realize the date. It was genuinely a fun surprise seeing that email come through.

I’ll definitely grab The Velvet Underground, a shame though that it’s in 4K with Dolby vision streaming but there are worse things than a film getting a standard Blu-ray.

Still crazy thinking about Wall-E…

It will have Dolby Atmos at least

Might have been a scheduling thing. Looking at his IMDB page he is on numerous projects at the moment, in various stages of production.

Going to get the Haneke trilogy, mostly for "BENNY'S VIDEO" which I consider one of his most harrowing films, right up there with the original "FUNNY GAMES", and Benny is played by one of the "bad guys" in FG, albeit younger.

The other two Haneke films are kind of forgettable; I sold off my DVD's of those years ago, so I guess I'll give them a second look now.

Oh really looking forward to that. I've been hoping for a good Napoleon film for a really long time. Can't believe Ridley Scott made this at the age he's at. Pretty impressive.

For those who may be interested, I think they've announced only two new-to-Blu classic Hollywood films in 2022: The Girl Can't Help It in January and Arsenic And Old Lace in July. Here's hoping we get at least a couple more announcements in the remaining months.

November was so stacked, they went out with December with a whimper.

Two boxsets by acclaimed directors, a music documentary and a classic coming of age film is hardly a whimper.

I was thinking Paramount could also get home video rights if they’re releasing theatrical.

I’m not big on the art, but I think other boxsets like Koker and Varda go quite minimalist also.

Camera Obscura’s Blu-ray (seems to include the same documentary and a still from Benny’s Video as the cover) used the title Trilogie der emotionalen Vergletscherung (Emotional Glaciation Trilogy per Google Translate)

Criterion are using the same art that Carlotta used on their UHDs.

Let’s hope so, also with Wings of Desire, especially after Curzon’s barebones BD.

Very excited to get The Velvet Underground. Not sure I need Cooley High on Criterion, but it’s a maybe.

December is almost always pretty light (last year, it was just three titles - one of which was a 4K upgrade). The November Barnes & Noble sale is always the last big hurrah of the year. January will probably have a big ticket item or two, and February will probably be a bit stacked for the Flash Sale.
