I have the Artificial Eye edition but a 4K UHD would be amazing

EDIT: I realized I missed the screening of Le Samourai from TCM. Can anyone tell me if this was the new restoration or not? Thanks in advance!
I can definitely see that being a title they would get if they could, as it likely is their only chance to do one of his films.

Le samuirai was not the new restoration.

Thanks. I just point out what other people say. Not my fault if they get triggered over their own words.

Edit: False alarm. As pointed out below, Metrograph apparently copied their blurb from Black God, White Devil for this
Sorry for getting anyone prematurely excited.

Notice Pierrot Le Fou will be screening at The Metrograph in NYC, and it states at the bottom that it's from a new 4K restoration. Seems like an inevitable candidate for a future 4K release.

New 4K restoration from Metropoles Productions, based on original 35mm materials preserved by the Cinemateca Brasileira. Restoration by CineColor Digital and JLS Studios.

In my small little bedroom, I have three posters on my walls. Two of them are Cannes Film Festival posters and the third one is the first edition cover of Pierrot Le Fou that Criterion did back in 2009. Although this is just a replication of the actual poster, I love to stare at it on slower days. I feel like a lot of Godard films are amazing posters

I just added a number of Jean Luc Godard films to my wishlist this is definitely a filmmaker I’m going to be buying Blu Rays of in the future along with the 4K UHD of Alphaville.

I almost bought it during the last Criterion sale. Picked up a lot of other titles, instead. Guess the timing worked out.

That text is exactly the same as the restoration notes for Black God, White Devil, and why would Cinemateca Brasileira have the materials for Pierrot le Fou anyway? They probably just mistakenly copied the wrong text in, so I doubt the 4K restoration exists.

I'm fairly certain if Pierrot Le Fou had actually been restored in 4K it would have premiered as part of Cannes Classics or something.

Yeah you're right. As for your point about another country like Brazil having elements, I know some film elements have been discovered and used from different countries when they're otherwise thought to be lost or damaged elsewhere. A print of Metropolis was found in a museum in Argentina for instance, and that was used for the the 2001 restoration. In this case, it's for sure for Black God, White Devil though.

I'll reach out to Metrograph and let them know.

edit: I emailed them, and they removed that blurb

Several of their limited series releases are from Fassbinder, including Eight Hours Don't Make a Day, World on A Wire, and Berlin Alexanderplatz
There's also Altman's Tanner '88, which has not made the leap from DVD to BR yet.

World on a Wire was more 2-part movie than a series, each part around a 100 min. Of course that depends on what the definition of a series is, I saw it as more like an extension of the 2-parters Fritz Lang used to put out.Anyone who can play 1080/50i content (possibly region B locked) should consider the Second Sight release, which spread the installments over 2 discs with an encode by [wait for it] DavidM.

That's the very definition of a Limited Series, aka a Miniseries.

I doubt there was AI. If you want to see what an AI generated cover looks like, go check out that Batman 89 SteelBook on the homepage right now. You’ll see what AI looks like.

Why did you intentionally crop out the part of my post at the top where I said it was a false alarm and wasn't restored?

Dunno, probably because you edited out the name of whatever film you were talking about but left the rest.

Next time, maybe make it clear that you're taking about.

What on earth are you talking about? The only thing I did was add an edit at the top of the post to say it was a false alarm and I did mention the name of the correct film it was for. I was unaware the blurb was for another film until someone else pointed out in this thread. I mean you clearly read it, and edited it out, because of course leaving it in would render your rant completely unnecessary. Why not just own up to that, than this attempt to pass the blame, and move the goalposts.

edit: I see you deleted your rant now. Moving on then..

Somehow I'd never ever heard of this title, so thanks to the posters that discussed it. Added to my wishlist, just need to decide if I want to grab the CC or SS version

edit: just realized it's on the Channel, so I'll check it out there first!
