This "no excuse" comment is silly. Someone's decision to buy or not buy a region-free blu-ray player (or anything) is not your concern.

If you "really don't know what to say" about buying choices that aren't your business, maybe just don't say anything.
He can say what he wants, thank you. Don't like it log off.

Yeah, I can't imagine collector's not doing what I did because a region-free BD player costs the same as one that is region-locked. In fact, many are even cheaper. And that's precisely the point. It doesn't cost anyone extra to get one.

And if people aren't willing to do that, well then they shouldn't complain that titles are locked to certain regions.

Very disappointing to see her doing that (and hypocritical too, seeing the screenshots of her lambasting the very same thing last year). I was probably gonna get Nanny at some point but don't particularly feel the need anymore, definitely not any time soon at the very least lol

Wait a minute...is Criterion getting 4 Heisei era Godzilla films...? That's really mental to hear (but I mean it in a great way).

Now I don't really need to import the Toho Blu-rays. But I'm sure there's a good chance that Criterion will be using the same Blu-ray transfers from the Toho blu-rays. My original plan was to just get the Toho Blu-rays of Godzilla 1984 & Vs Biollante since I missed out getting Kraken Releasing & Lions Gate's blu-ray releases. I only had them on DVD previously.

I wonder if the Eclipse DVD sets will also be released on Blu-ray. I'm hoping The X From Outer Space is one of them.

A bunch of posts back on a bunch of pages back, I noticed Scottie predicted 25th Hour in 4K BD. Now that's something I'd be excited to see come Monday! That and "Take Your Cat to Work Day."

Toho's UHDs are mastered much too bright. Wonder if Criterion would be able to fix them while keeping HDR.

And even then it wasn't like they were super expensive. I got my first region free DVD player back in 2004. A Philips, and even then it was only around $100 or so, probably less. I've also had a region-free Sony BD player for the past decade and it too cost me less than $100. Still going strong.

And the reason I say this is because if people can spend literally thousands on discs over the years but can't drop a fraction of that by investing in a region free player, I really don't know what to say. You're only limiting yourself as a collector. There's so many great imports that people are missing out on by not being region free.
What an asinine comment? As if dropping $150 on a blu-ray player is chump change, not to mention the $300+ it would cost to get a region free 4K player. Not everybody spends hundreds of dollars on discs in any given month. Not everybody has the discretionary income to buy discs and get a player at the same time.

I'm tired of people seeming to think they know the financial situation of strangers they interact with on the internet.

Why do you let strangers bother you? Just ignore them.

Who said anything about getting a region free 4K player? Even I don’t have a region free UHD player. There are a total of what? Maybe 5-10 region locked UHDs?

The point is region free BD players aren’t expensive. And you can get one or much less than $150. You can get one for half that.

Seeing some really hypocritical comments. It’s between $18-30 for most discs, so if someone is paying that per disc, how would someone not be able to afford a region free player when you can buy them for $100? In that case, you are better off streaming.
