I love the shuffle session! Nice tactile ritual.

Leave some free space on every shelf. Problem solved.

My Criterion's get their own corner. Not quite a closet, unfortunately. I keep them separated from the rest of the collection because they have a rather superior attitude and get a bit snotty towards releases without the "C" on the cover. I further divide them by Scanavo and Digipak. Boxsets get top shelf billing. DVD's have their own area as well. My only dilemma is the two lonely Janus Contemporary's in the lower right corner. I'm kinda torn on where to put them. Poor little fella's...

I’ve got 23 things in the cart ready to purchase (have $575 in gift cards), and they have only discounted about half of the titles so far

I put my Criterion titles in numerical order, and they're below my big flat screen TV on a really nice wooden shelf with a sliding door.

Also speaking of Criterion titles I've decided to divide the eleven titles I plan on buying by buying half of them on Amazon, and the other half on Barnes and Noble.

The 6 I'm buying from Amazon are
Killer of Sheep
To Sleep With Anger
Round Midnight
Seven Samurai
Ghost Dog Way of the Samurai
Menace II Society 4K

On Barnes and Noble
The Long Good Friday
Withnail and I
Devil in a Blue Dress
How to Get Ahead In Advertising
One False Move

Anyways, I've got a couple of big titles coming tomorrow one being Sorcerer from Criterion a title I'm surprised I've never seen, and the other big one is one of my favorite musicals that both me, and my mom adore High Society.

Currently I have my 4K’s in one unit and my Blu-rays in a seperate unit. DVD’s live in my cupboard.

Lately I have been considering maybe just combining all my Blu-rays and 4K’s together.
Everything the same size (5" discs) together; DVD/BD/4K. When I upgrade anything, I just switch out the old one with the new in the same place.

12" Laserdiscs separate, of course.

What do you do with dual releases, such as The Three Musketeers/The Four Musketeers?

Would that go under "F", or "T", or "3", or "4"

So it begins. Already preordered "Repo Man" in 4K and "Eastern Condors" for store pickup in the morning.

* and weirdly, I was able to get the additional member 10% on "Repo Man". No complaints there.

Seems to be taking Amazon a bit longer than normal to start price matching things.

Amazon price matching is likely an automated process that they run on a regular, periodic basis. I doubt that there's any human behind it scheduling the web crawl except for certain seasonal sales, i.e. Black Friday--Amazon is too big for that with too large an inventory. They just crawl their main competitor's websites at regular intervals, likely with some automated alert to a human when a lot of items change all all at once.

It will happen within a day or two.

I hade a hard time deciding where to put the Michael Haneke Trilogy. I ultimately put it under 'H'

They had some real weirdness on the site last night, almost like they were manually adjusting prices in real time. There were titles that took quite awhile to flip over. And there were titles in my cart that went in at 50 percent then back to regular price. And then some that just disappeared from my cart! It was a real mess. I was up a little late watching 3 Women so I gave it one last shot after it was over, about 1:30 AM, and I was finally able to assemble my cart. So janky.

Amazon matching tends to trickle along in small batches over the course of days or weeks. It can be a little frustrating. Users reporting the lower prices might help, but I never experienced any quick updates when I did that myself.

After skipping the last sale, I am excited to jump in on this one. Planning to hold it to five this month with two BD to 4K upgrades, three new-to-collection, and no blind buys. Barry Lyndon; Anora; You Can Count on Me; Paris, Texas; and Blue Velvet. Have fun making your picks!

I have all my movies alphabetized, regardless of format, boutique label, etc. I have the box sets together in their own section, and then my single titles. I have zero aspirations to collect the entire Criterion Collection, so the spine numbers are irrelevant to me.
