Well, I'm gonna guess that Criterion knows the date changes before Amazon or this site has a chance to update their release dates. That's just my thought.

they did have that accidental pricing error that one time listing the new BDs at a much higher SRP

Besides NOV 20th is a FRI... I would guess an accident on Criterions fault... they seem really scrambling over there currently.

I'm pretty stoked for "Gimme Shelter". I can't tell you how many times I've seen the DVD at the used store by my house and just passed it by waiting for a better release. We've known for almost 2 years that it was on Criterion's Blu release slate, nice to see it's finally coming out!

Placing my pre-orders now, somehow forgot to pre-order "Gomorrah", which is OK, I'll just package them all together their only a week apart.

Its tempting to buy Gomorrah as any BD criterion release is but I'm lukewarm on all of the IFC films as being worthy of the Criterion banner. I saw this film in the theater and was let down. It was interesting, well-made, and definitely flowed similar to the Wire but it didn't have any heart. It felt like they tried so hard to be a fly on the wall that the end result was all of the numerous stories which were ultimately connected felt disconnected.

Still, it was a good movie and its tempting...

Gimme Shelter, YES!

Still waiting on the "CHE". Hopefully Criterion has it coming out in October since there is now nothing in Oct on Blu. That would make up for the "in the Fall" clues by releasing it in Oct.

why do criterion blus geet full 5 stars. i think the reviewers are being a little partial here.

i saw for all mankind last night, and it was far from perfect. the black levels were inconsistent, and the some of the colours seemed saturated.

a 5star rating must strictly be reserved for reference grade discs. IMHO.

So it can't get a 5 star for being a great film? We rate films now by how good the HD looks? Criterion films are for the most part far better films than the everyday Transformers or X-men movie that comes out. They get 5 star ratings on the picture based off of the transfer and the fact that some of these are 50+ years old.

To me, reference equates accurate representation of the director's vision.

That said, I believe that the Criterion release of For All Mankind comes extremely close to being one such representation.
