Why wasn't Antoine and Colette included on the 400 Blows Blu-Ray?

Even the artwork design doesn't seem like something that Criterion's designers would come up with.

I know I wanted that also on the Blu release. I have a feeling that had the release been done now it would have probably included the short. Who knows could have been a contractual issue. I am hoping for the rest of the films to be released on Blu also. Maybe they can include it on the second full length film release when the time comes.. or box set perhaps.

That's cool. Yeah, I saw a lot of the OOP's in your collection! If you or others want to keep track of all your Criterion, give the Criterion Forum Facebook Application a try:

Haha... only $500,000? I love how it says "Fulfillment by Amazon."

Don't forget the free shipping with Amazon Prime (if you have it), but I'm more amused by that seller's 100% positive rating (over 14 ratings) in the Marketplace.

That's the extent of it as far as I understand it.

They should really investigate that guy for money laundering, have a look at his storefront, all dvds are 500k.

Any thoughts on if Salo will get a blu ray release?
Either by Criterion or another studio?

I see the UK and France both have a blu ray version, but both are region B locked.

A region-free blu-ray player is your friend, jacob. The Sherwood player on Amazon is a clone of one of the Momitsu machines but priced quite a bit lower. For all the money you've spent on importing those Studio Canal discs, I imagine you could save up for one, no?

As for Saló... I have the UK release from BFI and I think it's quite lovely! I have about 6 total BFI blu-rays so far and none of them have let me down. The picture quality is great, the extras are abundant, and the booklets are usually pretty darn thick.

Personally the reason I wouldn't buy a region-free player is because it would open the floodgates. I already spend enough money on Blu-Rays, I can't even imagine how much more I would spend if I was able to play region-locked titles.

I heard that the display lights on the Sherwood player are very bright and distracting?
I might do that either way, if I can find someone to buy my current blu ray player.

If the lights are the only thing holding you back, jacob, I'd say place small pieces of black electrical tape over them. However, like previously said, owning a region-free player will open the floodgates, per say.

The only thing Paramount did was handle distrbution I believe along with the packaging. The cover art is like that, since Paramount wanted that mainstream appeal while I wish Criterion did the coverart but other than that, the movie supplements themselves and transfer are all Criterion material. And I really liked that essay thing that was included.

Spend the extra money and get the new Oppo BDP-80. It retails for around $300 shipped and you can order a mod chip that requires no soldering. Its an outstanding player as is but making it region free makes it well worth the money. And the lights on the front panel are all defeatable.

I'm probably going to get an Oppo soon. Maybe an 80 but more likely the 83.
