It is a film that many people can relate to. Lose a parent and who decides what happens to the belongings and the home. Especially if you are a child who lives in a far state or country from where your parents live.

And for some who have experienced the splitting up of property of a loved one...it can be civil, it can get nasty but "Summer Hours" is a film that depicts those genuine emotions of saying goodbye to things that you grew up with, saying goodbye to a home that you were raised in.

It's one of those films that features great acting and really well-done cinematography. It's worthy of a Criterion release but for those who are looking for replay value, not sure if this would be one of those films. But it is a very good film with three very good special features and really good booklet.

But it's like Godard's "Tout va Bien" (an earlier Criterion release), I enjoyed the film (especially the supermarket scene) but I don't know if I will have the desire to watch the film again.
I am not sure if you have notice, some of Ozu's movies are going to be release in the UK on Blu-ray by BIF Video. Do you know if these are usualy region B only releases?

Ahh... I'll let Pro-B answer that one. But any Ozu on Blu-ray would be fantastic. But with Eureka! (Moc) going non-region for their titles and if BFI does follow that (I know several are not region coded), that would be interesting, especially competition Criterion knowing that there are many of Criterion fans who are not too keen in waiting too long and will buy from MoC and BFI if they release the Blu-ray first (especially without it being region coded).

I would buy them as well from BFI if I can confirm they would be region free releases. I truly enjoy Ozu's movies. I have only seen 6 of them so far but each and everyone is excellent. I have yet to see one of his silent movies and been tempted to buy the box set but that would break my rule about blind buys

To be very serious I am extremely tempted to break my rule because on what I have experience so far by discovering his movies. I am always a bit reluctant to go for a blind buy cause what if I really don't enjoy the movie and I don't want to see it again. Yes I can always sell it on ebay or something like that but it still a expensive thing. But right now I am very tempted to go for it, so please don't encourage me, I am bad enough as it

Yes that's the place I go to

We're very fortunate to have such a great cinematheque in our area. Best place to watch films in Cleveland, imo. Second is Cedar Lee.

If Criterion has any surprises I really hope it is a Linklater box of Before Sunrise/Sunset. Imagine those on Criterion Blu

Plus, I'm sure Linklater, Hawk and Delpy would give us more extras.

From 2006 Interview with Linklater:

C: I've have really enjoyed your two Criterion disks, SLACKER and DAZED AND CONFUSED. Are you planning on doing any more of those?

RL: I hope so. I think they’re trying to get the BEFORE SUNRISE and BEFORE SUNSET together, because we’ve done nothing special for either of those, so I’d love to do that. I’m trying to get them to…you know, SUBURBIA’s not even on DVD? It’s kind of getting lost.

For those of you who've seen The Seventh Seal did anyone notice a greenish/yellowish tint in the upper right corner of the screen during certain scenes. I didn't notice it thoughout the film, but it was fairly prominent in a number of scenes. One such instance was the scene where
[Show spoiler]Block meets up with the family of circus performers and shares a meal with them
.

I've looked through the official review on this site as well as the user reviews and found no one with a similar problem. Perhaps I got a bad disc, but I thought I would ask here before sending it back to Amazon.

Oh, the silent films are awesome... "I Was Born, But..." and "Tokyo Chorus" are magnificent. I will be watching the third film from that Eclipse set soon. But definitely worth buying (note: I bought it during the 50% off BN sale for $17.99 I think).

I will not rule out being blind but appears that the Hunger review is missing from the first post under the Blu-Ray reviews

I guess there's no way of telling unless you add something to your cart and try it out, Jedi. I think it's expired for everyone, though.

Courtesy of a criterionforum.org post, here's another picture from the same angle... "Anti-Christ". So, that's a good guess.

I might wait for the next B&N sales and see if I can pick it up. It's currently at $40 on amazon.ca, for 3 movies it's not a bad deal I suppose but if I can get below $20 during a sale even better

Wasn't Antichrist distributed by IFC in the US?
I think there's a good possibility that Criterion releases this movie.

Yes, it was picked up by IFC. I think we may see both Antichrist and Breaking the Waves released on Criterion BD soon.

I had posted the possibility of an Antichrist release back when it first came out. It seems like the perfect criterion release (Beautiful cinematography, Powerhouse acting, Extremely controversial, Lars Von Trier, IFC) but i think i remember someone posting a link that said Criterion would not be releasing this film..... I hope they changed their mind because this was one of my favorite movies of '09.

Very controversial and let's say if the final minute of "In the Realm of the Senses" made the guys scream "owww" and hard to watch... "Anti-Christ" goes even further. In fact, if you have a crazy woman in your life...you will not want to watch this with her...hehe... and oh... don't have scissors nearby.
