I know it says this fall. That is what I was getting at for the people who think it was going to be announced now. Criterion has months planned ahead.

M. Hulot’s Holiday should be a July or August release.
If in July, we could see 2 re-releases in M. Hulot’s Holiday and The Red Shoes in the same month. |

Hulot's Holiday (recently restored) and Red Shoes would be great for July. |

From criterionforum:
"I bet that October will be an all horror month and will have Cronos, House, and Antichrist." I could see that happening, and it would be awesome. They already said Antichrist in the fall, so it could happen! Last edited by nablock; 04-07-2010 at 09:37 PM. Reason: typo |

Someone on criterionforum.org related the following Facebook exchange -
Person: As the rights to Orpheus are still owned by Janus, is there any chance that it will be re-released in either a remastered DVD/Blu Ray or through the Essential Art House Collection? It'd be really sad to see that title stay out of print solely because the rights to the other two films were taken away. Criterion: Orpheus comes back from the underworld. So, it looks like a stand-alone re-issue of Orpheus is in our future, and I can't imagine them re-releasing it without going Blu. |

I picked this one up, though I probably won't get around to it until this weekend. I'm tempted to ask what's worse (as I'm sure they're out there), but I think I'll pass. ![]() Justin |

DVD Beaver review of the Region B Kinowelt City Lights Blu-ray:
http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/dvdcompare/citylights.htm Seems they may have cropped a bit too much on the top. This film was of the era where the soundtrack encroached on the real estate of the 1.37:1 academy ratio frame, so the OAR should actually be 1.20:1, with slight pillarboxing on the sides (which would make the pillarboxing of the HD 1.78:1 encode slightly wider on each side). Perhaps the slight cropping on the top is due to making a 1.20:1 image fit a 1.37:1 framing? Hopefully Criterion's is a bit more accurate in this regard. |

I just watched the new Criterion BD of 'Days Of Heaven' and was quite surprised to see noticeable edge enhancement, with white haloes surrounding characters and buildings framed against the sky in many shots. Examples include shots at 17' 05", 18' 20" and 54' 22" among several others.
There is also some strange source damage on the shot starting at 78' 05", where a dark band is visible down the right side of the screen. Were there no alternative sources that could have been used for this shot? These issues are also present on their earlier DVD edition, as the same HD transfer was used for both releases. Most reviews have praised Criterion's transfer almost unreservedly, but I suspect many reviewers have been seduced by the beautiful cinematography. I'm sure this new Blu-ray is the best that the film has ever looked on home video formats, but has nobody else noticed these flaws? |

I certainly did not notice any of the issues you did. I thought the quality was amazing, especially for a film this age. Yes, the cinematography was as good as any other movie, but the quality of the BD itself was really incredible, imo.
