there are all kinds of ways the score could have been much better imo without the movie losing any of its power or lyricism.
I always felt that way about the zither in Third Man.

"Pierrot Le Fou" reminds me of a French "Bonny & Clyde"(lite). One moment Marianne and Ferdinand seem normal, and the next minute as lost adolescents mocking authority while dancing in their imaginations. Marianne appears to be psychotic.

I love the transfer on STAGECOACH, the extras aren't half bad either. I haven't watched all the extras yet, or had a chance to listen to the commentary, but so far it is a great release.

I love the cover art design booklet and the Menu design is just as nice if not better than the cover.

I had never ever seen Stagecoach until this release, it was a very entertaining film with an amazing cast.

Not that I know of. You might try calling around to Barnes and Noble, Borders, and the like, and see if one of them would be able to secure a copy for you.

Of course, Pierrot Le Fou predates Bonnie & Clyde and was made without a screenplay.

Reminds me of the latter movie because I have seen it several times. lol I didn't mean to infer that "Bonnie & Clyde" preceded "Pierrot Le Fou."

Edited to add: Have you seen "Pierrot Le Fou" Wilky? If not, check it out. There is a heck of a lot going on in the movie. One part I thought to myself, "what the heck was the director thinking?" lol

I haven't listened to the commentary on "Walkabout" yet either. It is good to read the transfer is strong. I would like to see Criterion put out more American movie classics.

Call them. That might get you somewhere. Sometimes they can order from one of their vendors. Looking on websites won't get it.

So I watched Hunger the other night on Sundance. I was completly caught off guard. The beginning pacing was great, then theres that middle part where Sands and the priest are talking for about half an hour. I actually fell asleep. I don't think it was boring, but I had a difficult time accepting such a drastic change of pace for the next 30 mins. Anyone else feel the same?

Actually, I thought that scene really enhanced the film as it shed more light on his reasoning behind the hunger strike whereas up to that point it was just sort of showing you the protests without really understanding in depth why he and the others were doing it.

That's actually my favorite part of the movie... By far. Maybe I'm just a sucker for long single take shots, but I was riveted for the entire conversation.

I got mine less than 2 weeks ago from ebay's Half.com. I paid $50 for the Blu ray, but I thought that was kinda reasonable since most places had 'em for around $35-$40 before it went OOP.

EDIT: Just ordered Pierrot le fou for $27 from an Amazon Marketplace seller. I noticed a lot less places selling that title for a reasonable price. I'm assuming as time goes on, it will be harder and harder to secure a copy at a good price.

Default Problem with Walkabout?

My blu-ray of Criterion's Walkabout has an issue. It freezes a little less than an hour in - chapter nine I believe. It does this on both my players (PS3 & Sony BDP-960). Disc is clean. Players' firmware is up to date.

Anyone else?

I couldn't agree more, that scene elevated the movie for me, really great writing.

Are The Third Man and Pierrot Le Fou both good movies? Why are these no longer being made if they are good movies? Sorry for not searching.
