I just finished watching Summer Hours via NetFlix streaming. I think I prefer it over A Chrristmas Tale (which I couldn't see all of). My wife prefers ACT...to each his own.

Keaton and Chaplin are both good starts in the silents genre.

Sunrise was MUCH better than I had imagined it would be. Should be getting City Girl in the mail in the next few days...can't wait!

Paul Morrissey's films are not for everyone, but IMO his films are an important part of American cinema in the late 60's-early 70's. Hope ya like it. I never got the Criterion editions of his 2 horror films, but instead got the Image Entertainment releases, which have been said to have better transfers than the Criterion releases. They look great, but I can't compare since I don't have the Criterion ones. His other films are really not for everyone, dealing with drug use, sex, and transvestites. But his films have humor, which is easier to watch. If you like 70's independent films, (and I mean very low budget stuff) his films are a big part of that.

I have a feeling you'll love Blood for Dracula. Be sure to check out Flesh for Frankenstein as well. Both very funny, but has your "important" messages for the people who hates the fact these are in the collection. I believe Criterion needs more Morrissey films.

For those still waiting on a Deep Discount order...

Order placed... May 23, 2010 (before their stupid sale even started)

Item shipped... June 2, 2010

Item received... June 21, 2010

And that, my friends, is how long it takes a Deep Discount order to make it from Ithaca, IL to Rhode Island. Never again. That's 30 total days for an "in-stock" item. Seriously, it takes less time to receive items from Europe than it does Deep Discount.

Just to put things in perspective, last time I ordered from DD, it took 1 1/2 months 'til I got the shipment, and they sent me the wrong movie!

This time around, I ordered on the 15th, they shipped on the 16th, and I got my BDs today!

Inconsistent, to say the least, but still one heck of a deal.

(I'm in Texas, btw.)

I looked at my DD order history and I've made 8 orders with them over two years. TWO of those orders they sent me an incorrect item. That's a 25% miss rate. I literally place 50+ orders each year with Amazon and have NEVER received an incorrect item.

And that's not even going into their shipping times. The last order I will ever place with Deep Discount was Mystery Train. They claimed they shipped it on 6/14. It's now the 21st and there is no sign of it.

Well I thought I would let all you DDer's know that my Red Desert BD came today from Criterion.com a day early like always. It's good to give a couple of extra bucks for a sure thing.

I'm prob guessing your saying Flesh For Frankenstein, because Morrissey actually made a trilogy with Joe Dallesandro and the first one was actually called Flesh. Just to make sure since Morrissey had films called Flesh and Flesh for Frankenstein.

I got all of my in-stock orders after a week. My out-of-stock order came after a two weeks.

A perk of living in central Illinois.

Hahaha. Would that be the only "perk" to living in central Illinois?

If you are close to Naperville, IL, you could go to their brick and mortar location. They've offered the discount in store.

if you haven't seen all of a movie, then you haven't seen that movie, so how then, can you share an opinion of it??

Well we're talking about DD here. I assumed that even if you live near their facility they still probably route it through some far-flung location on the other side of the planet just to ensure it takes at least a week to arrive.
